my strategic advice for infiltration future

inf 2.9 is a great game. but nobody is playing it. less than 1000 active players. its not even more a niche game , its a nostalgics game.

that sucks because you can't play when you want, you have no choice on the server where to play...ect

the only way to change this is to release a version for inf Ut2K4 within the First 6 months of the official release , with some pretty maps.
its not important if the game is half assed, a bit buggy. just rush it, then release a realy minimal product. and make patches often , every 5 months. the game would that way be popular and played. its not important if the first releases sucks compared to 2.9 , newjacks dont know that. if you wait a for a finished product then it will be out when ut2k4 wont be played anymore, and no matter how good the game will be, it wont be played.

im not trying to tell you how your game must be, but how to have it popular. and popular isnt a bad thing.

While I would do my best to be a bug-free as possible, I do agree with Don. A quick release while 2K4 is still on the forefront would really help the expand the community. Even if the first release is just a few maps and new weapons. Anything to get Inf out there on the servers and in the media as fast as possible. You can always rely on this community, as dedicated as it is, to pimp Inf as much as possible.

I love this game and playing it so much that I want to see it successful. If there are tens of thousands of players on-line and the community degenerates to the CS level, as least Infs survival is assured and we can still run passworded servers for those players that we have grown to enjoy mutiliating on a daily basis.

Inf simply rocks and anything that can be done to get you guys the credit and fanbase you deserve is a good thing!

I understand where your feelings / thoughts come from don. I find it frustrating that this good of a game doesnt get the attention it deserves.

Its not that i want to tell anyone how to do their job -god knows i hate it when people try to tell me how to do things- but most times in the harshest remarks a product gets, there the most thruth lies. At least thats what i've learned so far.

Now i will stay faithfull to inf regardless and continue to play it as long as i can but i also hope you guys get something out real quick for ut2k4. I'm sure we'll bitch and moan but when all those servers keep filling up and the total number expanding then you'll know you're on to something.

I'm not giving advice, hardly ever use that word, this is just a thought.

Just edit to mention this too: I also feel for the TTR guys, it's a good mod where a lot of time went into, but its two servers are empty. :(

TTR is a graveyard. True. I did get to spend 30 minutes playing sniper vs sniper with one other player a few days after it was launched. Imagine, dead servers only a week after launch?

INF on the other hand has about... two active servers at a time. Around 30 players in the morning and 30 at night. While I'm glad it's not as dead as some mods out there, it doesn't seem as lively as INF2.9 launch day with 5+ full servers.

I'm hoping the ILCR will give INF that kick of life it may need. Although a future version of INF sounds fantastic, I think the SentryStudios team could use a break after pouring heart and soul into their UT mod. They do afterall, have lives beyond modmaking.

* Waits for ILCR *

yes they deserve to take a big breath..
but unfortunately the time NOW is the most important. if they delay the inf2k4 developement of 1 year or 6 month, who knows the opportunity they will loose?

the only solution for them to take a breack and have a popular mod is to skipp ut2k4 and work for another newer engine in 1 or 2 years

Tell you what Don, why don't you release a mod for UT2004 in the first six months of official release? :p

I don't think anyone not in Sentry should even dream of commenting on this.

mr sh , im not talking technics here .. ut2004and ut2003 will be close to each others , and ut2003 is out for some time now.

im talking about strategy, because no matter how good the game is , if you have a bad strategy or a bad release schedule,or simply a bad luck (delay-bugs) , you wont go nowhere
