My love/hate relationship with Infiltration

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Love: I can't believe you now have leaning for 2.8!!! If Inf is as good as the latest news.. WOW!!!!!!

Hate: when are you guys going to release it?????

Seriously though, technically speaking, the new release should be v3 because of all the new features such as money system. The planned v3 should be 3.1 or something. By the looks of things, you've almost changed everything about 2.75 so it really shouldn't be 2.8. Anyway, I'm just suggesting. Keep up the great work!

Can I confirm these features for the new release:
1) Leaning
2) Money system
3) Stamina

That's the idea I get, but I thought all these features were only coming out for Inf 3?

thanks,
AJY

what the hell are you talking about: money system?. There is no money system. everything is done by a weapon credit rating, weight and size last thing I heard and I keep up on the news.

2.8 will not be 3.0 because:
-not all weapons will be released
-not all items will be released
-not all skins/models will be released
-not all maps will be released
-not all game types will be released

2.8 is rather a test to see if they are going into the right direction with 3.0

I hope by 'money system' you mean what's incorporated in our loadout menu.. if so, that's already been in place in beta form for quite a few betas.. Remember, the money only serves as a way to better balance the gameplay. It will constantly get tweaked so we have the best performance.

Thanks for the praise though, seriously. Those 3 options you mentioned are incorporated, yes. And they're working wonderfully so far-

version ratings..

Hi Darkliege, that's not how software versions work. If you want to see how things are heading, then you release a beta version, but if there are radical changes, a new version comes out. As it is, it seems that 2.8 is not similar to 2.75 at all because everything has been changed. It is more apropriate that the planned v3, be in fact a v3.1 BECAUSE it is an enhancement rather than a radical change to the planned 2.8. The planned 2.8 IS a radical change, and therefore should be v3. A 'proper' v2.8 might have a few changes to 2.75 - such as new weapons. The next version appears to do away with weapons lying around (the 'money system' I thought was going to be implemented where you buy weapons at the beginning), has new models, new weapon models and sounds - ie. hardly the same as 2.75. Maybe it's just confusing because Inf is referred to as 'versions' rather than 'betas'.

Warren - what do you mean that it has been available for a few betas? In 2.75, you still aquire weapons that are lying around. Can you explain please? I thought some sort of buying or aquisition was going to happen BEFORE a round was played like CS for example, in the next version.

cheers,
AJY

We refer to public releases as versions and internal tests as betas- otherwise every release would be a beta because it would constantly be improved. And as far as the version numbering goes, 2.8 has been 2.8 since the conception of 3.0- 2.75 wasn't really supposed to happen but we didn't get it good enough with 2.7/2.71.. so with that in mind, it's not impossible to believe we could have 2.8x if something serious isn't working with 2.8 and we don't want to wait for it to be fixed with 3.0-

The biggest point is we stick to a specific version number througout it's development. This keeps things from being more confusing than they already are. Basically the only thing left from 2.75 is the numerous options, since they're pretty cool and there's no reason to dump em /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif But this is all pretty trivial, and probably not worth going on and on about.. just needed a break from modeling /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
