um, please, pretty please?

The thught of it, the supressed mp5 with an acog, hmmm.

And the fact tht the bullet drops so much only makes it even greater. Shooting somebody with a robar doesn't give half the satisfaction, it's too easy. But with the slow bullets of the mp5...

And ofcourse it is possible IRL, remember the pic with he acog on various weapons?

IIRC, the orginal mp5-sd 9mm was offered with a 4x Hensold scope to offset the loss in power from the ported barrel. The graphics are already in the game, but I don't know how easy it would be to recode the inventory screen.

I wholly support the idea of interchangable scopes for all weapons.

Anyone on the team like to comment on this? Shakken, I remember when someone suggested the .338 Whisper as a subsonic sniping option you said that rifle rounds lose too much momentum when reduced to low speeds.
You also said that one would be better off with a heavy 9mm round. What is wrong with this idea, if anything. I think it would be a useful addition.

IMVHO, it would completely unbalance the game... the MP5 is already ridiculously 'tame' weapon compared to other weapons in the game (most notably recoil) and any more advantages would make it even worse. It's certainly a very good weapon in real life just as in the game, and a scope would make it even better no doubt, but it's current advantages over other weapons are already pretty big as it is...

why?

mag size: same as m16, smaller then aksu
damage: less then any other weapon (exept the beretta)
bullet drop: Higher then any weapon (expet the shotgun maybe)

the only advantage is its lower recoil, and that's where it ends.

If you are going to put a scope on the Mp5, then make it a low powered scope. The Mp5 is intended for CQB and it should stay that way. But the more attachments that INF have the better IMO. Just give it a 4X scope or something, assuming the scope for the M-16/Sig are both 8X scopes. That would do it.

Actually, it'd be neat to see both the ACOG and Aimpoint interchange among all the rifles. The M4 would be sweet with a Reflex on the flaptop.

IT'S A SUB MACHINE GUN!!!

I don't know if I'm the only one seeing the irony here, but why would you want to snipe with a sub machine gun? Use a damn carbine or sniper rifle. If you were able to truely snipe with an MP5, you'd have an all round perfect weapon, which unbalances the rest of the game. If you want to snipe and you think the Robar is too good use the ACOG on a Sig or an M16.

Because, Nikoomba, they are horrible shots, and can't handle real gun[SIG, M16, Robar] They need the low recoil, and big scope so they can see. People like me, though, aren't Mp5 whores

J/K :D

But seriously, if a good player were to get a mp5 with a scope, it would be like having the redeemer.

Simple minded people...

just because you put a scope on a gun everyone thinks you're going to snipe with it!! What's up with that. There are scopes for Colt .357 magnums. DO you think people buy them so they can go sit in a tree and "snipe" deer? Ahhh, let me think...NO! I don't care if the team doesn't put a scope on the freakin' Mp5, I'm just pointing out the facts. But you're right about one thing, I'm a bad shot.

The point behind an ACOG on the MP5 is to garuntee first-shot kills. We're not asking for the scope from the Robar, here, just a measly 4x.

The idea is not to snipe at 100+ yards, but to increase the probability of hitting the a close-range target in the head. The iron sights obscure too much of the target, and the Aimpoint's dot is too big to be precise.

Sites and scopes...

How about just having more visibility on the iron sites? Does Triton make any for the MP5?

Tho, I still think the MP5 recoils a bit too much or, if nothing else, it should be managable, meaning, you can actually pull it down.

I've fired them before and after some practice, it's quite managable unless it's unshouldered. Of course, if our heroes running around the boards are like us couch potatoes then I can see it : ) I had it in my head they were experienced troops who'd had lots of practice with the weapons handy ; )

P.S.

Oh, and I might add that a .357 revolver is quite accurate (depending on brand and loads) out to 100 yards. Yes, lots of people DO hunt with pistols, typically magnum revolvers as they lend themselves to deer rather well (.357 and .44 typ)

Go watch some of the shooting matches with the open class revolvers. : )

Streaks - the nitpicker ; )

People aren't going to snipe as such with an mp5.

I can "handle" the M16 perfectly well thank you. It just happens to make a big fuc</e><e>king bang, that's all. Of course it's better for sniping. But it draws unwanted attention. A scoped mp5 will not be an "uber-weapon". Remember, when you fit a scope you will degrade it's CQB capabilities significantly.

It has a place in the game as a precision weapon for stealth playes. One that will allow high single shot kill probability at medium range. It will not "own" at a range of 3 metres. Or at a range of 500.

It will merely be an effective mid-range precision weapon. With all the drawbacks and advantages associated with that.

Anyway, this is a realistic mod. It is possible to fit an ACOG to a MP5. It would not involve too much work on the part of the team. And as usual, I'm sure we can trust them to make sure weapon balance is not affected. So why not do it.

Lastly, it's an option. Nobody will be forced to use it. So it can only be a good thing. I wouldn't be against the introduction of any weapon into INF so long as it was:
(i) Realistic
(ii) Fairly balanced
(iii) Practical for the team to implement.

If I didn't like it, I just wouldn't use it.
So whaddya say?
