    bunny hopping in Inf? But if you only can jump 2 times straight running, and if you fire with a burst in the mass center he will be surely dead. I don´t think it´s an issue, in fact i don´t see anyone using that trick in a regular or semiregular basis.

    If you fail to deal with someone who uses a pistol to make it a personal handycap, you either lack luck, skills, connection quality or a combination of em ;)

    So don't blame the other guy.

    It might not be intended in the first place, but any long barrel weapon will have a hugh disadvantage (shooting not bashing) at point blank. So I don't mind the current implementation

    crac is actually a pretty good shot, so I wouldn't blame his lack of skill. I, for one, haven't seen UN do MUCH in the way of crazy stuff as mentioned above ... from time to time, but not abusively so.

    Anyway, he's usually on the receiving end of a long-shot from my rifle (that is, when I actually play EAS :p). In any case, I've voted to kickban him for good measure.

    Poping UN across half a map with my 5-7 is fun. I never seen him do the stuff described here but I don;t allow him to get that close.

    See? I'm so easy to kill and I don't do "bad stuff". Can't say I recall being killed by Taque with a 'long shot' or Ben with a FiveSeven within the past few months. Lately, 98% of my deaths have been at the hands of M4 users. (Including Taque, who sprayed 30 bullets into me at 10 feet in 3 seconds. Thanks.)

    This thread is about Real Targets! Not some poor soldier with a little pistol! Get back on topic!

    P.S. Ben, I challenge you! Next time I see you online, bring your pistol and you can shoot me all you want!

    We just installed beta3 on our JgKdo server but experienced some server and client crashes.

    We are not sure if RT has anything to do with it, but if anyone here experiences a crash, I'd really like to see a screenshot and hist infiltration.log file.

    No screenshot, it just died without giving any error message box (either that or my memory is worse than a fish, but I didn't get a screenshot anyway).

    Currently RT is running on GD EAS Server. No crashes that I know about. However, I believe I will be running RT with DTAS, when I bring up DTAS again. I'll let you know how it goes.

    I've been getting some gpf's the last few days which almost never happened to me before. I recently change my video drivers so i'm not sure it has anything to do with rt. But i've also experienced, as well as a few others apparently, a weird bug online : sometimes after having been shot i hear a constant bullet whistling around me (no, it's not crowze shooting at me ;)) that is quite loud. It usually stops after a few minutes. As far as i can remember it never happened to me before.

    That's a weird warning... I've seen it a couple of times but not related to any sort of crash. at what stage of the loading process did this happen? (or was it during a game?) I,m not sure why the broadcastmessage function was called. It seems that it was called with an error of some kind.

    ok... for those wondering what I was up to with RealTargets, here are some good news.

    I worked during the last few days on a way to visualize the hit detection zones. Trial and error simply doesn't work for this and drawing the model in your mind ain't exactly what I was looking for.

    So now that I have a serious tool to work with, I will improve the hit detection zones not only much faster, but with much more precision.

    The tool I made is actually a Matlab program. Was so simple... don't know why I didn't think about it earlier. Here is an exemple of the output for the standing soldier hit detection zones (see attached pictures). I didn't not check the validity at 100% yet, but it seems fine a priori.


    EDIT: BTW, with the second picture, you should understand the weird "lowertorso" hits. Interesting eh?!

    Good job geo! Looks similar to the virtual dummies I'm abusing all day.

    The next thing that's going to happen: You'll be forced to make the cylinders match for every single animaton ;)

    Geo, what's up with this? It's been over a month since you even posted in this thread.

    What happened to:
    1) Finalizing the position of the hit zones
    2) Implementing damage variable for each zone
    3) Adding extra zones for spine, heart, etc.
    4) Extra wound effects?

    I would especially like to see the hit zones finalized and have damage to leg/arms be much lower than damage to the torso.

    No I haven't. But the time I have is limited and I tend to spread my energy in different projects. I'm currently finishing some animation stuff with the modteam. I pushed this back too long. RT is comming next on my priority list.

    Before I go into more exotic suff, I want to finalize the cylinder positions and I got some minor stuff to fix. Once that is done I'll move on to other imporvement. On my mind I still have (in priority order):

    - Enhanced hit detection zone to follow more closely movements and various animations
    - Statistical damage, with different weight for parts of body
    - Damage varying with range
    - Improve tracer support for belt feed weapons
