More than 31 maps on a server?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

The 32 map limit is (I believe, not checked) down to either the base UT code or Beppo's code, neither of which would be healthy to change. A big problem with using something like Xmaps is the Inf map voting system would be completely screwed up.

More than 32 maps? You've got to be joking :p.

UT codebase

Hard to change, there are tons of lines of code where the hardlimit of 32maps is refered to.

I see a way though (changing it without changing it ;)), maybe ... soon ... ;)

Ya, if I combine the DTAS and TDM servers, I would like to expand the map list to more maps. I might even toss a little EAS in for good measure...who knows. This could be fun. :)

If at all possible, if you could make whatever solution you come up with support GameSwitcher, Cleeus, I would be forever in your debt. :)

You can always, as a last resort, start cutting down on maps. I may be mistaken, but I believe the majority of players does not like the map Ruin or the map ModernGladiator, because several times I saw that a new map was voted on.

ModernGladiator absolutely rocks....a lot of people like it. The problem is that, in most cases, the only ones that speak up are the ones that dislike a map. The haters are always a more vocal group. :)

The only fun aspect of ModernGladiator is being the first to jump up on the highest point and find the enemies, and try and snipe down ONLY THEIR HEADS before anyone else can.

Oh wait, thats not fun.

I disagree 110%. It is a blast to watch that first idiot jump up to the highest point so he can snipe and then rip his head off with my 16 cause he was too stupid to stay behind cover.

I have played many a round, including several last night, that went 5 or more minutes because people played tactically, using the tunnels, staying crouched, etc. And I have lasted the round many times painting the walls with the so-called snipers blood.

Like any other map in Inf, some will like it, some won't but the biggest difference is who you have playing on the server.

Hehe yeah, well you have to understand using nades effectibly is a skill, for example moderngladiator tends to be one of my better maps but i almost never use nades on it.
Some people use rc50's, some use mp5's, some use m16's its all about what you are good with

Why would you use the rc50 on ModernGladiator? But back to the question, over 31 maps is a little too excessive. There are enough EAS servers set up for people who want to have a good game.

Oh, and for the record, Ruin is probably the last map I would want to see tossed off any server. It might not be as fun with 16 players, but with 6-10 people on the server it's a blast.

I am more of the opinion that you can never have too many maps. Sure it makes it a pain when voting, but more maps means more variety. I am not sure I understand your EAS comment. I am not planning to run EAS...the day GD is booked solid a lot of the time I will, but not until then.

Fin maybe, but EnemyAtTheGates, although it's a great map (especially for Jailbreak ;)) doesn't work with DTAS. It's really frustrating when your team spawns in the middle of an airstrike. Also, IIRC the zip includes an old version of the M2HB, which breaks compatibility with all other servers.
