Undead, Telekinesis, Cyborgs, Giant-Godzilla Robots, Thermoptic camo, HE blades, Psionics, Magic rations, unlimited storage, etc, etc... I'm pretty sure Metal Gear has run the gamut of the "fantasy" genre. It needs werewolves and maybe some aliens to complete it's exploration of military action sim meets hollywood blockbuster storyline with mandatory moral lesson thrown in for good measure.

    I can't wait!

Kojima has said that there's no time travel in MGS3, but the deal with the C-mags and the flying hovercraft things has me wondering if he's being honest about that...either that or it's a VR mission.

I don't even think they had the very earliest prototype single-drum mags back in 65.

Still, looks so fscking cool overall I am not complaining.

There was a working drum in '64 for the ar-18 in .308, 42 rds I think. Not very impressed with the looks of this game though after playing far cry and doom3a, those consoles are sure holding things back.

MGS was always about the 'colour between the lines' "gameplay" and the story. I was never much of a fan.

That girl in the second shot looks stunningly realistic. Perhaps they posed her carrying that gun in an impossible way as if to show that it was actually in the game.

    ... for a console :D

sure its not farcry or anything... but thats because the ps2 has been in existence for 4 years. the psx lasted for 5 before the ps2 came out so id say that they were hoping that ps2 would do the same... but pc graphics and hardware id say advanced much faster than they thought... try to remember how good the bouncer (great looking game, gameplay was horrific) looked compared to UT or something. and try to run farcry on a computer thats 4 years old (actually ive got a 3 year old system... ive tried the farcry demo on it and i can tell you its not pretty). give the consoles a break.

but OICW, the Cmag and hover things sure look out of place...

I know, but we'll have to wait (longer for us PAL people) to see what he's got in store for us. I hope that the Camo system requires a few seconds, and that the AI notices movement better than what it did in the Camouflage Demonstration video.

And I want to see pictures of the AKM's iron sights personally ;)

After watching the E3 trailer, all I can say is holy shit

Plot-wise I've got a few concerns, but mostly it sounds intriguing in a good sense.

Plus, if you like Russian weapons, you'll definitely be in for a treat: there's several of them (how does the DshK, PK, SVD, AKM and RPG7 sound?) and most were used by the main character. Plus, much use of iron sights in the trailer! Winner!

maybe it's one of those super rare AR-10's that were made during the late 50's early 60's. ;p

Even so, i wouldn't be surprised if the story was one of those two tier time line jobs.
(sorta like how in MGS2 you played as snake first and then you got stuck playing as gaydone 6 years later or whatever it was.)

So it's quite possible that we play as some kinda snake (probably big boss) during the 60's and then at some point switch over to using one of the twins later in the present or recent past. who knows.

I really don't know what everyone has against Raiden. Apart from his hair, there's nothing at all girly about him. He has a girlfriend, he kills people, he's brave and manly and all that crap, what on earth is wrong with him?

Snake is a cross between James Bond and Snake Plisken. He smokes, skulks about the place with large firearms and manages to make having a mullet look cool.

Raiden intentionally looks like a character from girls manga about gay men.

Why do you think people like Snake better?
