Ok, in the weapon guide it says that a shoot with the primary mode of asmd causes 32 hit points of damage. And a mercenary has about 180 life points. So I need only 6 shots to kill one. However I started to note that the bastards doesn't die with only six shots...... So I loaded my last game position and loaded the fly cheat, so that I could count how many shoots I really need to kill one without having to concern myself with my life points.......... and I came to the conclusion that I need insane 17 shoots to kill one, which means they actually have at least 513 hit points (16*32+1) and a possible maximum of 17*32=544 hit points.

I don't know if they have special resistance to asmd or it is because I am playing in the Unreal level of difficulty, but I would like to know if anyone noticed it before or if not, similar examples with the mercenaries or any other enemy having much superior resistance than documented to asmd shoots or shoots of different weapons

You are almost right with your 550 hit points.

ASMD primary fire normally deals 35 damage. You can say, the damage you deal in Unreal difficulty is multiplied with 0.8. Thus 28 damage for ASMD there. The default number of hitpoints is 180 for Mercenaries and 240 for Mercenary elites. But you can specify HPs for each pawn instance. That's what was done in Terraniux (no Mercenary elites there). The HPs vary from 200 to 500. For example the Mercenary who comes down the elevator has 500 HPs.

Mercenaries won't receive any damage when shielded. They can't damage you with their machine gun fire, if you stand below or above them (preferably above). Flakshells, grenades and headshot razorblades work best. You have no razorjack in Terraniux though.

They're set with higher HP in Terraniux, that's why they're stronger than ever in those two maps.
