HI all I’m sorry I cant lay down any solid stuff right now.
(Using UT2K4)
But here is the basic out line.

World setting.
(Possible post apocalyptic)
Game play -
Will draw from things like Fallout / System Shock. (And Even Jap Rpg styles)
Namely FF7 (Materia / Elemental)
I’m a Modeler / Game Designer (that part remains to be seen :p )

The fact that I want it turn based will decrease the need for heavy amounts of resources (art content)
Since it will be played from a some what Isometric angle with dynamic camera movements for certain events (Combo or Critical hits)
I’m totally open for suggestion!
(Settings could range from Valleys to forests and urban settings.)
Making use of terrain will also be important.
For example...
More agile or mechs equipped with "jump" jets will be able to leap onto buildings.
He then has a height advantage but the down fall been that he is exposed.

I’m also very keen on persistent character Development
With some sort of local (client) storage or server (no cheating) storage.

With stats and upgrades down to modding of ones own mech (Chassis, Guns, armor etc etc.)

Visually I love the Heavy gear and robotech style of mech design.

It is ironic that I came across your post tonight. A few days ago I was thinking a turn based mech game would be great. I used to play Battletech way back in the day with the paper map, pencils, and dice and was into Robotech as well. And of course I've enjoyed all of the MechWarrior games for PC. The real time action of the Mechwarrior games is great, but I thought it would be nice to have a game that returned to turn based game play. The strategies and decisions in a turn based game are completely different and just as exciting.

What type of people are you looking for? I am a coder / level designer. I am definitely no expert, but not a beginner either. I've been casually making maps for a few years and more recently started coding and writing my own mod. I've also starting learning some texturing and 3D modeling in Photoshop and Maya, but I am more beginner level on those 2 skills.

If you want to see my work, I have a completed mod you can download and check out. Just head over to my page at http://www.jsterj.com

You have a great idea for a mod!
