I've been working on a 3D model of something very special. It's of something that has sentimental value for being from my absolute favorite game (and first game I ever played, for that matter), the Cybernator assault suit from Assault Suits Valken.

It's very low poly, (at 1870 polys in it's current version) and would work well as a game model.
however, there is one problem that gets in the way of this: I can't skin, rig, or animate at all. that's where you come in.
I need someone who can do textures, and someone who knows how to rig models and animate them. I'm probably asking to much of the community, especially on my first post, but it's a very personal matter for me. I put my heart in this, since it's kind of me wanting to live part of my childhood again.

I have two major reference pictures of the assault suit and it's color scheme:

the one above gives a good side view of the upper body.

this one is of a perspective shot ripped from the game.

I converted the model to 3DS format, from which you can download below:

Thank you for your time,

I assume it's for UT2k4?

In that case, it would be awesome.

Too bad I don't know anything about this stuff. :p

Oh and welcome to the SkinCity board! :wavey:

yeah, I want it for UT2K4. mostly in case I ever learn how to mod for it, I'll have the first part of it done, so to speak.
I actually plan to model a few of the enemy assault suits from the game if I ever get around to it. (I'm obsessed, so sue me.) but right now I'm just glad to have the first one done. Hell, I'd model the giant Versis battlecraft if I had the time, simply so I could play a nice game of "drunken space station ramming".

Okay, so I might learn how to rig and animate the model myself, given I've found some useful tutorials on the matter. (this is hoping of course that GMax has all the major features I'll need to do that much.) however, that still doesn't change that I have no artistic skill when it comes to textures and color. (Color I can do actually, given I do pixel art alot. but textures I can't do.)

If anyone would help me out with making a skin I'd be very obliged. I'll even give the latest version of the 3DS file if needed.

I'm starting to see I've screwed up on my model of Valken/Cybernator. I'm going to rebuild all of the majorly messed up parts and see if by fixing it maybe SOMEONE will help me once it's ready. I know no one gives a rat's ass about this, but I don't care. I'm going to fulfill a childhood dream of seeing Valken in 3D and in a game.

I'll update when a fixed 3DS file is ready. thank you for your time. (yeah, like anyone cares.)

I could rig it for you...but you´ll need someone to do the uvmaps and the skin.

Model looks good...you should check his proportions tho.
His Head looks too big and he seems a bit small compared to your reference:)

And don´t get mad...there aren´t much people on these boards who are into modelling that could help you:)

Eh, I'm not so sure on the proportions myself. but sense 've started fixing the model I think I've gotten some of the major problems.
by the way, do I need to keep the model built in segments, or should all the polygons be conected in some way? so far since I've started fixing it I made it where there are only two segments: the upper half (upper torso, head and arms), and the lower half (lower torso, legs and feet.) should I connect the entire model together or seperate all of the moving parts? I ask in case I decide to do a model of something else from the Assault Suits series.

and sorry I got mad. I've just been having a hard time with this is all. I'm normally pretty calm and patient. I'm just rather on edge right now.

have you played Front Mission 2 - Gun Hazard?
I have actually. It's good, but I don't really like it as much as I do as the Assault Suits games. they just seem better for the fact that my first SNES game was Assault Suits Valken. (it was the english translation, Cybernator, but the game is pretty much the same.) And I've been following the series ever since. Gun Hazard was an exceptional game, but I just like A.S. better.
