i have bought the 'mastering unreal technology' book which comes with a CD that contains maya personal learning edition. when i click to install it it comes up with a site that gives the newest version of maya not the one with the CD. so how do i get the registration key for it or dowload the older version?

Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.
You could just use the newer version's PLE and find the export plug-in for that.

you may or may not have to set back the date of your computer to 2006 or less for it to work. You can set it back to normal afterwards.
I don't know for sure, but maybe I have a Maya 5 PLE key on my old pc somewhere. If the one from the link above doesn't work I can dig out mine (if it's still there).

even autodesk approves of the sharing of the key. Even if what is posted there is not true, it's just the PLE of an outdated version, so who cares? Try the key above and if it doesn't work, even with the date set back I'll give you mine.

Don't know about the errors. Maya 7.01 PLE worked okay for me using the exporter found here (where you can find all plugins for Maya and UnrealEd to work together).
If you still can't get 7 to run, you can still try Maya 5 PLE that came with UT2004 (and the book i believe) and get the serial here.
