Marathon: Resurrection Needs Mappers

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Marathon: Resurrection is a total conversion for Unreal Tournament (1) which brings the multiplayer and singleplayer experience of the classic Macintosh game, "Marathon", to a whole new generation of gamers. It has been downloaded over 10,000 times, rated 9.4 at ModSquad, and been published in several coverdiscs.

After four years of working in our free time, we are finally nearing completion of all the gameplay assets (monsters, weapons, textures, models, etc.) and are now ready to focus the remainder of our efforts on the mapping for the singleplayer campaign.

We're looking for mappers posessing any level of familiarity with UEd2 (UT1) to help us out with this. Map geometries are already in place, so what we really need are people to help flesh these maps out and make them actually look good.

For more information, check out the Marathon: Resurrection website. The FAQ will probably answer most questions regarding the project itself (including the one which we all know someone's going to ask).

Anyone interested can contact me at jasonyu@boilingpoint.com or drop us a line at the forum . Thanks.

Man, once I get a copy of UT1 and some mapping skills, I'm SO THERE. This is a mod worthy of work. ;)

And I assume you didn't upgrade to 2K3/2K4 due to pain in the arse factor?

Yeah... we'd already released a playable beta back in late 2001, and porting it all to 2k3 would have meant re-doing pretty much everything. Being a project put together by people who were often busy with real life, it just didn't make any sense to take it in a direction which would make the development time even longer.

And now we see how well THAT worked out... :)

Really, this is a labor of love... those of us still involved are still working on this because we want to see it completed. We've got a community of visitors who've been supporting us throughout this entire time, and that's helped to maintain our enthusiasm for the project... but really, we're at the point where we just can't go any further without some help.
