After playing UT-INF the other nite, and tonite =) i cant wait for proper situational maps. I even came up with what i think would be a pretty good stand-off map too. ive started building the main structures, but i suck to much to really make it look special.
anyhoo, the gameplay idea is to have a terrorist team hold off a swat team from storming their base/hold-up for say 10mins or say until a bomb they are guarding goes off - if touched by the swat its disarmed, if shot by the swat... kablammo! >=D ).
Now, the base they occupy is a good size, and can be accessed from most sides (my map idea has a total of 7 entrances) now, what makes the gameplay shift is that the placement of the bomb is randomly one of say 6 designated spots, so the defensive strategy changes with the location of what they must protect for each round. The other aspect is that the terrorist team can lock/bar any 3 (just less than 50% of available entrances) doors that once locked, stay locked and neither team can use them. What this means is that the terrorists can prevent easy attacks on the bomb by locking nearby doors, swat doesnt know shit so they must really communicate well whats available for entry and figure out how the terrorists have set up their defense. my final apsect to keep things running as planned (i think) is that any terrorist that exits the building to a certain degree, maybe even just outside a doorway if they are in the open are then in a random time between 1-5 seconds killed by a virtual sniper. this makes them stay inside and hold-up like all good terrorists should =)
with this set-up i guess the defense has it pretty good, but there are more unlocked entrances than locked ones, and maybe give the swat team extra lives? better weaps? the option to bust one locked door open?
well, if my map ever gets close to completion im going to need a script that allows doors to be locked by a team that the other team cannot reopen (and maybe allow the oppoing team to open just one locked door) and the virtual sniper.
anychance of INF incorporating some of this? or is most of what i ask achievable already with making a funky script?
so the whole idea of a big area to guard with the option to control the flow of the offense i think is cool, and id luv to see some maps that play like this. it would extend the maps lifetime no-end, especially if swat can beat the terrorists to a door and hold it open =)
ah chaos...
