Making Fun of Grenades!!!

I think it would be cool if you can picked up grenade with the pin already pulled out and throw them back at the other person, like saving private ryan, when those germans threw that grenade at the guy inside the building he threw right back out, could be nice. If you do this you should make the timing of the grenade a little longer, 1-4 seconds.

I don't know about you, but If I saw a grenade I'd be heading the opposite direction of it. Much less ptrying to pick it up=P

As far as I know, in the military if u see a grenade you either dive or run as fast as u can in the opposite direction, to put distance between it and yourself. The entire throw the grenade back thing came from WWI, where some of the grenades used had 5-7 second fuses. There were a lot of cases at Galipolli where Australian soldiers were able to throw back grenades because of the ridiculously long fuse times. The enemy eventually learnt; either they shortened the fuse or they held on longer, I forget.

But modern grenades don't give you enough time to do so. About the the most you could hope for is if it landed at you're feet and you managed to kick it away.

Modern grenades usually have 5 second fuses, if someone is stupid enough to throw one at you without cooking any time off you should have time to throw it back or run like hell (considering throwing the grenade back would take ANOTHER special key, and ANOTHER new animation that may or may not even be possible, I think the run like hell option is good enough). But if they pull the pin, release the spoon, count to 3 and then throw, you'd have very little time to do anything except get a surprised, bug-eyed look on your face before you died.

Yeah, picking up a live grenade just isn't a good idea- and the extra overhead involved making this work would be a little more than necessary. Kicking it would be cool except UT doesn't have the physics code to make something roll well. Creating the code would take time and might be worth looking into at a later date. much later.. for now, run like hell- or dive out of the way behind cover. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just an idea!!

Well I still think it is a good idea, at least a fun one. I use to think grenade had a 12sec delay, real ones. Well if any of you have watched the movie with nicolas cage and a little boy you would know grenade delays are 4hrs, fiction movie, definetly. lol

This option would be nice if you were in enclosed areas, right, or wrong.

One more weird thing about me and my post on INF, I usaully get 1 or no reply, and when I do get reply they end up being negative, hmm... weird. Maybe it is my grammer?? hehe

INF is not just a mod but a new look at UT

i like the idea of a dud grenade. toss it at someone's sniper post, they get away from the shrapnel radius (or get behind a steel wall) and you blow their little head into the netherworld. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif


And yoiu should have smoke grenades (Not for hk 69, for throwing). mabye even a flare gun.
