Major problem. INF wont start. Period.

I dont know what happened... sigh I am so frustrated. I turned off Infiltration after a few hours of playing to start team speak. But when I finally got teamspeak up and restarted INF it froze up after i went through the splash screen. I tried rebooting nothing. I tried reinstalling INF, nothing. I tried reinstalling UT and INF, nothing, I even made sure every trace was gone before reinstalling. I uninstalled Team speak. Nothing. No matter what I do INF simply will not work. I am on the verge of screaming I am so upset. I cant figure out what to do short of ****iing taking windows and reinstalling the entire POS. Any ideas? Thanks. :(

ok an update. I rebooted the comp and tried running INf with the no quick menu option. UT loaded instead :con: So I then tried loading INF straight from the INF menu... UT loaded again... Huh? Im really confused now...

ok after hours of troubleshooting, I narrowed it down to my microphone.... :con:

INF refuses to start ONLY when my mic is plugged in... Any reasons why this would occur? I would really like to use my mic for TS and other voice programs while using INF... Thanks!

ehhhh how can a plugged in microphone f... up your system in a way that makes paths no longer accessable for a game??

Your micro does not affect your folder structure or your drive naming sheme in any way or maybe software that detects the microphone or maybe USB stuff or whatever you have plugged in???

Check if this microphone somehow affects the 'standard' folder structure in any way or something similar...

Maybe the soundcard driver is bad and the engine can't initialize sound when the mic is plugged in and that couses the engine to screw up and look at the wrong places ... or something... or not. Weird. o_O

This a totaly off the wall suggestion but is there some kind of weird grounding with the mic taking place? Not even sure if thats possible but i have seen stranger things.

LOL ok I wanted to see if anyone could find out what the problem was. It turned out I needed to install the 436Creative patch and once I did that INF anf TS ran smoothly. thanks for the input and your advice.

Ooops, sorry for late reply. Creative 436 UT patch gives some trouble when connecting to UT version 451 servers. In fact, it just won't connect. I know because I have had that problem, and the solution was to uninstall the creative patch. It won't probably affect you much because all 451 servers are european I think. But if you ever want to play in one of those servers and can't connect, you know what to blame ;)

EDIT: UT 451 patch is a server patch which fixed some UT netcode exploits IIRC. It is compatible with 436 clients (i.e. you won't have any problem connecting to a 451 server with a 436 client), but it seems Creative 436 patch has some problems with those servers.

USB Mic Fix for NTKB

Okay I helped out NTBK (he is going to lick my Chocolate coated balls for payment).

I had him change this in his Infiltration.ini:
[[Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem]
UseDirectSound=True
TO
[Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem]
UseDirectSound=False

I am sure he will lose something in the sounds doing this but what I do not know.

I would lose the USB Mice myself (he has a Audigy Sound Card).
