I believe modding and its maintenance is a whole community effort
Also maintaining the downloads alive is too.
Certain mods are impossible to find or extremely hard.
If it wasn't for certain sites like moddb, or UTzone or even community efforts like http://www.ut-files.com/ and http://unrealtournament.99.free.fr most of the mods would have disappeared into the ashes for good.

The fact that BU doesn't have any hosting since a while was quite a pain as its gamefront directory was impossible to access, and the only way to get access to downloads is to get the directory from atomic gamer
Some people downloaded stuff from L4Y when it disappeared, probably other sites as well.
Fileplanet went down even if at least they have most of their downloads available and lately a site called unreal tournament.info went totally down without any warning

So my little request here is to have a section listing sites to download stuff
making helping some people getting downloads available for mods who had one.

I did a bit of that job, other people also does, there was some thread here, but I think having dedicated sections would be nice.
Also all help if you want to upload stuff to some sites should be provided, I will try at least to tell when it comes to moddb as some people had some difficulties for some reason.

Personally, I'm kind of surprised Epic has never even tried to rectify this huge problem. They know mods are a huge part of UT but they don't seem to see the importance of keeping them around at all.

In a way I think they always expected third party companies and the community to do it.
I think with UT4 it's a different story, but lots of old mods, so mods from their previous games are a bit flying around.
But since they are earning revenues with UT4 mods and materials, I believe they will maintain at least those mods themselves

So no one wants to help ?
If I made this it's also in order to find mods that are very hard to find.
I personally did what I could to put some stuff easy to find through certain modding sites.
As some other people did as well

There is a big, big reason BU and many other places no longer host files and it all comes down to the $$$ to host them and provide the bandwidth also the mirrors all closed or got taken over with stupid takeover adverts etc.

Also if you're suggesting people maintain the code of mods you can end up with people destroying them because they have their own idea on how mods should work.

For me it's just going to move them in places that allow to do so.
I did a bit from my own part, but I would like a bit some other people helping
I know it costs, but some sites are pretty stable
Maintaining the code is something else, that depends of the modder, some people let the code souce available who let people use it for continuation, but that's an other story

I personally would like people taking stuff from the unrealism site if possible
the antiskins section, UTU can also add up with it stuff already present in the BU subsections
That's nice though because I used to use atomic gamer for it.

I think it's very important, I really would like to bring help here, but the best I did is putting stuff at gamewatcher (when they were strategy informer) and Moddb

The unrealism site? How long ago are you talking?

Its not about how stable sites are, it is the money needed to pay for the servers and bandwidth. If Atomic Gamer is anything to go by it proves that you can't just upload them somewhere and leave them there.

There is a section called unrealism at atomic gamer who was 3ddownloads file repository for it.
The site pretty much died in 2004 and some of the people went to BU as some hosted sites are the same, however some of the files aren't in BU
so I'm just requesting we put those files from that unrealism section
http://www.atomicgamer.com/directory.php?id=3476
To rushbase, if people does this, and I will help too with my own means
That would be great

AG makes me wait two to three minutes per download (and seems sketchy overall regarding stability and speed), and I just don't have that kind of time. I agree that the mods are worth saving, but there has to be a more efficient way to go about it.

I understand yeah, but if there is a mean like contacting the admins to give the whole thing.
Otherwise that's the only method I know ...
I know the wait time is shitty, no argument there, but you can open a certain number of pages and DL them.
At least we are lucky with the current BU stuff ...

The wait is an issue, but then the file doesn't download anyway. I have waited with the pop-up timer window 6 times with different browsers; one completely absent of any third-party script blockers, but still the download times out.

There is an archive team working on getting access to the AG files (not specific to any title; like the File Planet stuff), but that hasn't moved forward in a while. I am not connected with them, I just read that on WikiP.

Anyway, as it turns out I can't get files from the site so my contributions will likely be few.

Someone from the Web Archive is making backups of these files I believe.

Personally considering the fact I don't know what happened with the stuff of fileplanet and even planetunreal / planetquake (which used to have a ton of files *Remembers Ram2000*) I think it's a bit wiser to organise a team of people and try to move those files.
I personally tried to get some stuff, and so far the thing works quite well
because I tried to search some of the files they have (the webarchive team) and I don't find a way to access them
The best I can find is when someone else have it. like some people who hosts UT files

Since now Unrealism is probably safe hoping it comes at utrushbase
I have a question regarding looki.de
I know it have some unique Downloads regaring the unreal games mostly the UT series.
But for some reason I can't download anything from it.
I wonder if anyone experiences some problems with it and if it is possible, and probably also calling other communities to obtain these files, because it would be bad if we can't see those files
