HomeLan has posted their short review of Secret Level's Magic: The Gathering - Battlegrounds, giving it a healthy 86% score. Here's the poop:
Magic: The Gathering Battlegrounds, which takes the basic formula of the card game and ups the tempo up to a game that has both real time fighting and strategic elements.
Like the card game, you play the PC-Xbox game via a virtual spell book that has various spells that you use to fight your opponents, with spells like magic attacks and summoning creatures to do their bidding. Unlike the card game, this combat is handled in real time, not turn based, and Battlegrounds uses a fighting game conceit rather than trading and showing cards. This change may make regular Magic players cringe a bit but it does make Battlegrounds a lot more accessible to people who have never played the card game before.
