Overtly Serious Chappy.
Saw MI:2 the other night...

Plot was absouletly crap (what do you expect with Cruise producing?)

Question for anyone who saw it though; was the grenade launcher fired from the helicopter a HK69? I only saw it briefly, but it looked semi like one.

And just remember; who needs to send in the Aus. SAS (one of, if not the, best spec forces in the world) when you can simply use one American spy?

Pretty sure that was an HK69. There are too many grenade launchers out there and it definitely wasn't an M79 /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gif

John Woo, do something new for a change

For all those tuned in to hong kong or other asian movies, tv or cinema, John Woo is kewl... yesterday.

Sure MI:2 had style, but I didnt see anything new. John Woo is:
- double gun action
- never messed up hair
- excellently and all too "perfectly" choreographed fight sequences.
- the sureal slow-mo thingy
- ultra stylo hero
- those bloody pigeons

The entire flick was a Tom Cruise advert, every part could have been used as part of the trailer, the entire thing is a poster.

I have to admit to its kewlness, but then there isnt much else. It was from this film that i asked what would really happen if you kicked up a half-buried gun - beach sand, into your hand and fired it.

For those really interested in watching an interesing movie, try that cantonese film "In the nick of time". Or any of the Hong Kong period kungfu films - "emperor and the assasin", there are a few more but i cant translate them into english properly.

yeah, fist o legend is great too.

I think I sound like I'm dissing John Woo in my previous post. Sorry if anybody is offended. I dont think that Woo is bad or anything like that. I think that his "touch" in making films is great, but a little old. But then i grew up to his films and they were in chinese. I think it is really odd when i see westerners do kung-fu, especially when they try the chinese way of it. And really odd when they try putting those same styles in western action movies.
