Looking for coder (and others)

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Hi, We are seeking members to help out in our Total Conversion named Forsaken Time. We are 7 persons in our team (one music composer, two modelers, three mappers and one 2D artist). I am partly mapper and coder, but my coding skills ain't really much to brag about yet.

What is Forsaken Time?
Forsaken Time is set in a fantasy/medieval world where you control 1 of 12 different characters. It will contain a variety of weapons and magical skills and it has 6 creatures you can use in Death Race and Battlefield (two of our four gametypes). Our four gametypes are Arena, Team Arena, Death Race and Battlefield. Our current concept is located on our forum under Forsaken Time: Forum

What positions are we seeking members in?
We are seeking for skilled people in these positions (Our main priority is a coder):

  • Coder (1-2 positions) - You must, of course, have knowleadge of UnrealScript. Other programming languages is a plus. You must be good in problem solving and be able to create functions used ingame. If you are a frequent IRC user, that is a huge plus!

  • Sound artist (1 position) - Your task is to create sounds for maps and game specific sounds such as weapon hits weapon, weapon hits shield etc.

  • Modelers (2 positions) - We are seeking world modeleres, your task will be to cooperate with our teams mappers, and make models used in maps. They can be somewhat between low and mid poly detailed, but texture detail is often better than model details so keep it as low-poly as you can. Required: Knowleadge of making own textures for models.

Anything else?
Our project is currently non-profit, so we cannot pay anything. There is a contest going on where the best FPS and non-FPS mod/TC can win prizes. If we get up to a point where we can compete, we will enter.

It is a huge plus if you are on a broadband connection and can be on the IRC most of the time. This way, we can have contact with you and you can have contact with us, and requests/questions/feedback etc. can be handeled fast.

Contact us
I hope someone is interested! Don't hesitate to answer us at #timespin @ irc.gamesnet.net, on our forum: Timespin Discussion board (Guests can post in our join us forum) or through email: [email protected] MSN: [email protected]

Thanks for reading this, and again, I really hope that someone is interested

I could probably do some coding work. The problem though is I'll only be able to code when I have access to the net. (I can code all week, but I'll only be able to upload anything during weekends)

It would help if you would specify which game you are making this for?

Hi Erika,

The game this TC is for is UT2003 (We will probably move it to UT2004 when it comes, and if I guess right, porting at this stage is no hard deal since the most changes in UT2004 is GUI and network improvements).

It would be nice if you came on IRC this weekend, so we could talk :) Hopefully we can work something out with your net access limit :)

I don't own UT2003 nor 2004 yet, so I won't be able to access anything. =(

I'll try to buy the game though, and learn the new concepts behind the class tree and map design. Then I'll be set for any new mod for UT2004 that comes along...
