You mean the glowing thing that light produce?
If so, just put a light in the place whaere you want the flare. Select the light right click on the selected light and choose light properties.
Select 'lightcolor' and put the light brightness on 0.
Choose 'lighting' and put bCorona on true.
Then choose 'display' and go to skin.

Now you have to select a flare texture out of your texture browser Try GenFX/LensFlare.

With the texture selected go back 'Display' 'Skin', click on none and then on Use. (UnreaED will now use the selected texture as flare)

Rebuild and its done, you can see it when you play the map, or if you have the 3D look in ED on 32 bit, you can see it in UnrealED.

Now probably the flare is too big, you can resize it in the light properties 'Display' and Drawscale, you can alter the size of the flare....

Thats it....

Umm... that looks awfully like Mr. DM's lighting tut...

In any case, maybe you should just use the original lightsource for the flare, instead of an extra source that has a brightness of 0. I mean, if it's really such a stron light source that a flare is appropriate, then the flare should be where the lightsource is anyway...

[edit]damn scaleglow doesn't affect the skin :( [/edit]

Last not least... best textures are in GenFX if you didn't know already.

use a white texture for the flare and change the color of the light to change the color of the flare. looks better this way..

I always put a brightness of 0, otherwise if you have the radius high enough so you can see it far away, it lights up half the map :hmm:

i never put lightbrightness on anything but 0

Another thing you'll need to know is how to make a colored flare for colored lights. All you do is adjust the hue and saturation of hte flare and it will (if it's a plain white flare) change color to match your light color. Don't use the colored decorative light flares that came with the game. And if you do use a plain white light, try and use flare number six, or something with a blue ring around the outside, as that's what it would look like in real life :)

As I said in Advanced a couple of days ago, I like Lens1, it's sort of like a soft glow. If you get the size right it almost looks like fog lit up around the light.

Now you're supposed to say
I like new1 or whatever. I don't honestly love anyof them. I think the ones in RTCW look the bestest :)
