Levers Not Working

Anybody ever have this problem where you go up to a lever or switch you KNOW has worked before, and it just won't budge? What can you do?

I'm replaying the game again and I'm stuck in Bluff Eversmoking trying to open up the Bell Tower. There is a control room with a laser gate that you can hop down into from above and turn off the lasers and also open the Bell Tower. But the lift switches won't move on the top or bottom level.

Any suggestions?

My guess: you are using 224 or 225.

On some systems, 224 and 225 cause levers in the single player game to seize up.

Just to be sure, try selecting the "Restart Bluff Eversmoking" option on the Load screen. If the levers still won't budge then sorry, you can't do anything about it.

If it is just the levers in the one place you can use the fly mode to get to the top. Hit tab then type fly then when you are at the top hit tab then type walk to get back to normal.

knave, unbelieveable!..i came to the forum just now to ask the exact same question about the exact same spot..i'm on bluff eversmoking and i'm trying to pull the lever to get up to the cable car thing..i already took the elevator up to the top to turn the electricity on but now the lever won't move..I'm thinking about using the fly command but I don't want to cheat..I'm trying to finish it without cheating..If i cheat I won't get a different ending or anything will I?..this is my first time playing through the game..If you know of another way to get to the top of the bell tower or to the cable car let me know

Aha! So it's not a mac specific bug. I was worried it was.

I too ran into this problem. I did some testing, and found the source of the problem (I think). If you save while a switch is active and hasn't yet reset, and then later reload that game, the switch stops working. It is VERY annoying. The solution, save with caution. I just went thru Bluff Eversmoke without saving at all. It's not hard if you've been thru the level once before.

It is not cheating to use the fly command to get past a bug. You are not using it to get an advantage, only to get to where you should have been able to anyways.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up using the fly command because I didn't want to back up so many saves.
