So its 2010... and I wanna play XMP.
I installed it again and it crashed a few times before even loading a server list. I then updated it in the options and it seems to work.
I've played loads of games since I stopped playing XMP and nothing matches up. There seem to be a bunch of servers up so... lets play. =)
There's fewer servers than there appears to be
4 of the current crop of 5 are actually mine:
Penguin Power is a test server I'm running under Wine on on of my Linux dediboxes to see whether it's viable to do so. Basically I'm just looking for feedback on whether it's playable. The
]HoC[ Server I created a few weeks ago because Gna-Lo got similarly itchy about playing XMP again and was trying to set up some games with whomever he could muster, and I set that up so they could have a somewhere passworded to play if they managed to arrange a pcw, which hasn't happened yet. However people have appeared in IRC again so it's worth floating around there as well.
XMP Fun Server is mine also, and has blocks, haxmut and lawndarts. Ohamis made me do it so blame him.
The other two servers are my main public and Chaptor One.
As GE has pointed out, a few of the old players are on XFire and joining that is worthwhile, I'm on pretty much every evening so just prod me. If you don't like the XFire client there's a plugin for Pidgin which is what I use. It doesn't integrate with games but that's always been spectacularly pointless for me as I never run IM software on my gaming rig anyway
A similar number of old XMP'ers are in the Steam XMP group also, and whilst there is some overlap it's worth watching both groups.
By the way I did see your brief appearance in IRC the other day but since it was 6.15am your messages were merely logged by my bnc
