Key Issues

Hullo all, it's the friendly neighbourhood Doomguy here with a question..

Is there any way I can retrieve my game's CD key from Epic?
I've just recently installed Patch 2.0 on my copy of UT3 (Yet to install Titan Pack..) and to my dismay, I find that I have to re-enter my CD key!

This annoys me somewhat as I have no idea where my key is.. My game box (CE style.. Wooo. is elsewhere as I'm packing up for a move later this year.

Until I can find my game box, I can't get my key, and I'd REEEEEAAALLLY like to play the game soon.

Any help's greatly appreciated.

It may be in your registry somewhere, I think that's where the Unreal games usually store it.

I see, and any hints as to where UT3's keys are stored in my registry?

The Steam version can be found here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam\Users\someotherfolder\cdkeys

For some reason I can't seem to find the one for my retail install. :/

Ergh, there's the problem, I haven't Steamed my retail version.
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait til I can find my game box, 'cuz I can't find my retail key in RegEdit either.

I might be talking out of my ass here, so don't quote me. But I believe it is stored in the UTEngine.ini but it shows up as the encrypted product key.

That's why it pays to Steam your version. Then you have access to your key always, even if you have to reinstall the game later on.

Problem solved, I now have the key.

The game's a lot better now.. I'm ADDICTED to Betrayal.

Well I know you said dont quote it but Im pretty sure youre right, dont quote me either

Annoying thing with that is the ini gets overwritten alot so you end up putting your key in every 2nd time you run the game. I do prefer the registry method myself even if it borks on a fresh windows install (you can work around that also by saving the regkey/key out)
