This sucks. I went in for a routine check-up, and ended up having to get a tooth pulled. Now I have a huge wad of bloody gauze stuffed in my mouth and I'm drooling like a mo-fo... /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Wimp. I had two teeth that were growing horizontally. I had to go through surgery to get them out. I couldn't open my mouth for days.

I got you all beat! Have you ever seen the cereal commercial with the snowboarder who has his mouth stuck shut with steel braces? I was in a really REALLY bad accident involving a cliff, two moguls, and a small forest of pines. I had my head in a brace, my arms in casts, and my jaw fractured in 4 places. They bolted my jaws together in a brace for about 5 weeks! AND I STILL HAD TO GO TO SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

A while back I had a piece of tooth coming out of the side of my upper gum... a root tip or something, I don't remember what he called it... but as soon as my orthodontist saw it he immediately (no pain killers first) grabbed it with one of his tools and yanked... he thought it was just a tiny thing that would pop right out without even bleeding (it was working it's way to the surface on it's own), but it turned out to be just the very tip of a much larger one, so he ripped out a pretty nice sized hole in my gum. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Hurt like a mofo. Bled like a mofo, too. And because he was an orthodontist and not a dentist, he almost never pulled teeth- at first he thought he didn't have any pain killers or gause. One of his assistants (bless her soul) corrected him, confident that they DID have some, so they both went in the back room and found the kit about 5 minutes later (seemed like 5 hours in that condition) and gave me the local and some gause. I would have never thought getting a needle stuck in me could make me so happy. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Now it's just a barely noticable dent in my gum. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Couldn't you have gotten homebound or something? Anywho, staying on topic here, I had one bitch of a tooth growing in OVER another one that showed its merry head right throught the gum, It was found on a regular old checkup, and the doc was a newbie at this, and proceeded to poke and prod the thing! Being the touchy person I am, I proceeded to pop the prodding Dr. in his jaw! Finding his error, he put a little Novacaine (love that stuff) on the offending tooth and pulled the thing right out of the gum!

Whats ever stranger, to this day, if someone is to press on the spot of the evil tooth, my right arm twitches!

Disgusting... yuk. Now, could we please return to something more tasteful like blowing peoples heads of or ripping their guts out?

wisdom teeth

I too had all four removed, still got 'em, it wasnt as bad as people had said, I didnt have to take painkillers at all and by the 3rd day was eating fried chicken, still not something that I would do again, this isnt meant as an 'Im so tough' story; everyone reacts differrently to various doctors and such I was very fortunate. Kibbles story takes the cake thus far....

Here's some wisdom for your frigging teeth. Guess what, I have all four of my wisdom teeth and I haven't had them removed. The fact of the matter is, they're just teeth. They COULD cause problems, but they won't. Most people see their wisdom teeth growing in, say "oh shit", go to the dentist, and have them yanked. Fact of the matter is, the only thing that pisses me off about these wisdom teeth is now that I know better than the tooth fairy existing, I'm not gunna knock 'em out to make a quick buck.

Its kinda like getting your liver removed because maybe, just maybe, 27 and a half years from now, it will be grossly malformed due to alcoholism.

Why is it scenes of violence and substance abuse are readily consumed by society, but displays of beauty such as the naked body or expressions of emotion such as swearing are treated as taboo?

Because people are ****ing stupid.
