Joining an online game

I hope someone can please explain to me why when I try to join a game online I get a MASSIVE delay. It's almost as if UT is downloading the whole map that I want to play rather than just connecting to the server.

Please help, I want to play this game online but I'm getting stuffed before I even join the server.

Have you installed the "Full Map pack" yet?

Yeah, I have all the maps and can play them single player no probs.

But it's as if the server is trying to re-download them.

How much RAM do you have?

256K with an Athlon 1ghz and a Geforce II MX.

Ok, thats kind of enough... When I had 64 meg of RAM it took forever to start Inf and load maps, but now when I have 196 it goes ALOT faster....

does it stop on the inf splash screen?? does it say "pre-caching" for long periods of time? ehh do you get in the map then delay?
