I was wondering if there's going to be any further updates to JB2K4 or even better, map packs, since it seems stable as it is?

It's a shame this mod (at least the 2K4 version) doesn't have more recognition, it's easily one of the most polished and fun I have ever played...

They are being made as we speak :)
But since theres very little in the way of encouragement for some mappers, they fell like they are wasting their time :hmm: (because its so quiet, why map if theres no one about to play them?)

We've discussed 4-way JB before and it really doesn't make much sense. How would it work? The first team to go down gets scored on? The last team standing scores? Who holds the release switch for which team in their base? I don't think any of those questions can really be answered in a way that makes the gameplay work. Then there's always the problem that 4-way gametypes need essentially twice the players to work properly, which just makes the problem of fewer players even worse.

I highly doubt we'll have another JB2k4 release. If you look at the bug list none of those are really shower-stoppers. And it's been playtested pretty extensively at this point. There are some more maps in the works though. In particular Zed's doing some awesome work :)

More maps is the main thing.
More add-ons too, but for those you need coders. Good coders are in short supply, and the coders who worked on JB are taking a well-earned break :)

And like Trueblood said... for mappers to feel it's worth their effort, there need to be players!

i think it is so quiet Because there are not enough maps. i think more maps would make JB2k4 more interesting.

Idea

I don't know how it work...9 prisons would be lot and since there aren't many players...wait...how about team prisons? For there would be 1 prison in each base.

Example how the prisons will work:
If blue team kills any enemy, they will be respawned into 'blue' prison. This means that red, green and gold team members can be in that prison at the same time. There are 3 doors. Red, green and gold. Now for example, green team touches the blue padlock icon, the green door in the prison opens and the green team can walk out of it. If other teams try to do the same, they will be killed or counted as llama.

The scoring system:
If one team is completly prisoned, other teams would get 1 point. So the team, who is locked down first, will not get any points. Team who is imprisoned second, will get 1 point during the round. Third captured team will get 2 ponts and the winning team of the round will get 3 points.

If the team is captured while other teams are still free and kicking, they would not be executed immediately. If 3 teams are captured, you would see all prisons with prisoners inside them and how they will be executed (the winning team would be teleported out during the execution process).

Arena fights: They will activate, if at least one member of 2 teams are in prison. But if players in 3 or 4 teams are in prison, too, then the arena fight takes place with 1 player with each team. The winner in arena match will be freed but the rest of players will respawn back in prison again.

There would be option which allows to do arena fights with completly locked down team members so they have some kind of hope.

So how do you like it? (sorry for bad grammar)

You need players for that idea right?
haha
I can almost picture it but i dont think Jailbreak needs that. CTF needed something like this because its an old idea and very simple. Jailbreak just turned CTF into something different and more interesting :)

The problem with ideas that are completely new variants of JB is that you'd have the same problem all over again: you need players!!! And something like this might fragment the community.

We should concentrate on making Lockdown a fun event every week, and releasing a steady stream of new maps.

as reaction 2 the idea of Artman40, it would be more fun 2 give the teams lives like in last man standing, and they lose a live if they are captured, by any of the teams. so that they can back in the game imidiatly(sorry, dont know how 2 write that). I think it is better that their should be 4 prisons instead of 1 mixed one. Arena can easily stay the same(perhaps more arenas in 1 map, but is not realy nessicary).

Just 2 show how i would plan it, but i agree with true blood, that JB doesn't realy need it.
