I'm getting started on this now, and I'm really gonna kick it into high gear in the summer. I'm going to attempt to make a few extra bucks by selling website templates, logos, sigs, and such. I already have a good plan, the paypal account is made, the website has its host...I just need to make the site :p

I was playing around with some things (all night on and off...yes, I did stay up all night. Haven't slept since 7am Saturday) and I finally came up with this. Please give me your thoughts, cuz I won't get very far selling templates if my own site brings teh suck!

Looks nice for the UT side. What about other things? Can you start something for like schools, businesses? Try not narrow your market too much. I would start your home page with something eye catching. They use your templates for themes like UT. As far as UT is concerned.....you have the top spot there dude. ;)

initial thoughts were exactly along the lines of mortus. yeah it's good, but you limit your market to those that play ut2k4, or at best in the gaming communities. if you want to broaden your market you'll need to make something more generic. or use that as something you've done for a specific site, but not as the main page... you could use that as part of a portfolio.

You might want to try making a few different banners like that with just changing the colors a bit and perhaps putting in different "figureheads". By that I mean objects that are a focal point to attract a specific market, like Xan for the UT community. Or you may want to have a few few completely different banners for variety. Then you could either have them rotate on your home page, or you could pick one for the main and have the others for displays. With that said, I think the one you have posted brings teh roxxors. :)

Little Dude.. your finally going to take the leap and I will definately sign-up as your first customer. You do need a more generic banner for your home page and then you can have links to the various forms graphics your offering.
(SIG's, Custom Avatars, Spinning GIF's, Banners, Web Site Templates, etc.)

One of the first things folks want to see is examples of your product so good high quality images are a most. Second these folks want is Price.. How much will you charge.. Visit other sites to get an idea and be competitive. You also want to start small and not promise a delivery date you can't make.
Example: 10 customers, all want something different, this could be a problem. Take pre-orders only and only finailze them by email confirmation and receipt of payment.
The Site I ordered my Custom Fan Filters is a good Example:

I am sure if you contact him he could answer questions you might have in regards to business crap..

GO for it MAN!!

Yeah, I think im just gonna use what I posted there as one of the templates. So I'm gonna throw that to the side for now and come up with something simpler for MY site. Besides, that style really limits content space, and I'm going to need a lot of room for some of this stuff.

I'm still deciding what I'm going to offer, because I don't want to go too deep. I think I'm going to try and avoid making completely custom templates for one person, because that will take way too long. But I will offer to edit the current template and/or change the color scheme.

Last night I told my mom I signed up on paypal and she had a fit, but I think she got over it. She just doesn't understand the whole concept yet. You don't have to report earnings from pay pal to the gov. do you?

Paypal is a site that just manages funds like a bank, its owned by Ebay and is a esy way to send money online. The earnings are from sales or services you offer. Yes, they could be considered reportable if this turns into a business. I would check with your Dad to find out more or look for info at www.irs.gov..

The paypal site says that you can transfer money from your paypal account to your bank account, but they take 2.9% out for them. If the money is already in the bank I don't know if I have to report it. But I don't really care, I don't do the taxes.

Anyways...thanks for your comments. If I get lucky this will be very profitable and I can afford a nice car then :p

As long as it doesn't get over $500 a month, I don't have to get a business paypal account :D

Hmm, let's see. How about "Crushing Creations"? Or maybe "Beyond Unreal Designs" (if petey allows)? Perhaps "B.eyond C.ool W.eb D.esign"? Hmm, I used to be good at this. I will have to give it more thought. If there is some word/theme you want to promote with your project name, let us know. It would definitely help.

Oh, oh, brainstorm:
A Bee Cee Designs / ABC Designs / A.B.C. Designs / ABC Creations / ABC Web Design (you get the picture)

The great thing here is you get the easily remembered name, plus you keep in your nick (which I know you want to do). Not only that, you can work out "ABC" to be a very descriptive acronym, while still keeping your nick in there. So, something like: A.rt B.y C.rusher, or A B.oney C.reation. Finally, it makes for a simple logo/motto, like:

"When you want the best, it's as easy as ABC." or "It's A BC! © 2005" or "Color By Letters. A.B.C."

So whaddaya think?
