Either we just have magic servers or players out here are basically not fussy :)

Talking with Clan Admin out here (about 8 of them) no-one has ever seen or heard of anyone ever having Map Prefix problems.

Now we have a Clan server which hardly ever gets used probably because its in Cape Town and the lines down there suck although it is a pretty large server sitting on a T1 line :)

Now I invite you guys to go there (dont worry about the ping etc) and logon as Admin and get the server to do what your servers are doing with these errors, bugs problems etc as I cannot get these things to happen and what is happening to UT2Vote is I am changing code randomly hoping it improves things where it is in actual fact messing it up badly and it mainly because I cannot replicate the problems here and just going on what you say which is not the way things should be done.

The IGF problem we know about and do experience but then 90% of players out here do NOT use the UT2004 Browser so they dont have this problem.

ut2004://196.2.128.102:6777

VoteAdminPass=jacko
ClanAdminPass=happy

Put a GamePassword if you do not want to get disturbed.
As I say the server hardly gets used.

oh oh...

kill me, but maybe i found the probleme...

i have no CTF Insta with XGame.InstagibCTF in the gametypes, i still use my gamemake-gameclass

the other thing is, i have vctf in it, but not on it's original position. It's somewhere between other custom gametypes...

could this be the reason for the problems?

I had one of the guys on the forum do a test for me, the guy who complained the most:
as i hardly remember which maps came with the retails and which not i simply removed around 150 maps or so for testing ... and maplist is shown correctly then ...havent checked the clansetup as i'm a bit short of time ...

It would seem the moment you have too many "custom" maps on your server this problem appears.

;)

well, on this server i have:

8 AS-Maps
13 BR-Maos
1 Clonebandits-Map
108 CTF-Maps
82 DM-Maps
15 DDOM-Maps
13 FHINV-Maps
13 Jailbreak-Maps
23 ONS-Maps
2 VCTF-Maps

compared with the UT2003-Times, this is nearly nothing...

i have deleted most of the standard maps also many of theses maps have alot of different characters in thier names like (GU)- {FU} stuff like that . can those stupid naming conventions theses kids use be messing with things ?

ok, next test, this time with instagib ctf and all gametypes in the original order:

no difference...

the problem comes, as soon as i switch to ctf. nearly every second try. Then the ctf-maps get the prefix of the previous gametype.

as ctf has the most maps, i somehow guess, it might be the reason...

but on our ons-server (an intel-machine) a similar effect comes up without changing the gametype by prefix (changing from ons-public to ons-league) and ons only has 23 maps, and there is no prefix-failure visable, as it's ons both times... ok, maybe another story, but might be the same problem...

LOL shows how spoilt you guys are in the US.
A 450 ping to us is great stuff and can do some serious ass whipping with that :)

Hehe... locally we average between 25 and 60, in the UK around 250, Europe around 300, Oz around 500 and USA around 600, Newyork is ok, around 350 but after that... :)
Next year the Sat3 cable to Oz - Netherlands will be opened and our pings to Oz/Europe/Uk should be sub 100 :)

I dont think you'll get much better than 300 to CA or LA areas as the bottleneck is between Newyork and LA which you only notice from NY or this side of the world.
Welcome to the "real" world frogger :)

Can I get some backstory on cornball? I'm really new to the UT world, not having even THOUGHT about playing a game online since Quake2 until now. I suddenly went from not playing on line games to co-running a colo for our clan/web site and obsessing about servers. Anyway, I've pieced the details together as best I can I think...but is there someone here he has a vendetta against? Someone at Unrealadmin? Does anyone know where in Chicago he lives? I'm only a short drive away. :)
