here is my idea for a missile command mod that could use the Tower defence source code to do. but with the player haveing to track missiles and get lock-ons on them to shoot them down.

This is a mod dedicated to missile defense, and will place a player in the place of defending his country from different types of enemy missiles and ICBM’S.
Countries defense system:
Patriot mark 3 system
Interceptor Silo
ICBM Silo “bring vengeance to the enemy at the push of a button”
Later build
Radar Truck
Enemy list:
Scud missile
Typodong missile mark 2
Multi Warhead ICBM
Enemy bomber.
Single Warheads
Scud Warhead or ICBM “Sarin”
Scud Warhead or ICBM “Mustard”
Scud Warhead or ICBM “HE” High explosive warhead
ICBM Only
Nuke Warhead.
ICBM Multi Warheads
Multi Warhead ICBM’S can be chemical or nuclear or HE when the warhead reaches the range of its target all other war heads on the ICBM will deploy.
An ICBM can have either a chemical or explosive or nuke warhead. Chemical warheads when exploded will cause a cloud to form and will hang over a city for a set amount of time and will cause a city to lose a steady stream of health.
An ICBM will travel slightly faster then a scud can.
An ICBM can go above the atmosphere and cannot be taken out by a patriot system when it is traveling in the upper atmosphere and must be targeted with an interceptor silo.
All enemy missiles are launched from in an upward flight path until they reach a set height then will turn downwards to steer towards targets.
When advanced radar system are added a player should be given a warning that a missile
Has been detected launching and gives him time to track where it is coming from in its pre flight launch before it shows up on radar.
Oddball launches
In this day and age of private companies, launching satellites, the player will sometimes be warned of a rocket launch and will have to verify if the rocket is a threat or not before trying to shoot it down.
News Ticker
In a later build a news ticker at the bottom of the screen can alert the player of non threat launches so the player will not focus on those.
Players weapon systems
Since game play is in a large outdoor real world map and silos and Patriot launcher system are small compared to the surrounding terrain , to make it easier to see them the currently select weapon system will have a bright flashing icon above it that can be seen from a long distance off. All weapon systems will reload by themselves without needing to be told to but take time to reload.

An interceptor silo holds one interceptor.
When an interceptor hits its target it causes a large explosion that will take out most multi warheads ICBM before it can launch its payload. A interceptor silo takes a long time to reload so should be used only on multi warhead ICBM’S.
Patriot launcher system.
Patriots can fire four shots before reloading
Reload is faster compared to the interceptor silo
Players Movement
The player can move about the map using a RTS type movement system using the mouse pointer to move the mouse to the edge of the screen will make the view scroll in that direction.
To look up or down hold down the middle mouse button.
Firing weapons and selecting weapons
To fire at a target select what weapon system you want to use then hover the mouse over a target until you get a lock then press the fire button. Once the player has a lock and has fired the weapon he does not need to keep the mouse on the incoming missile the weapon
On the ground will take care of the aiming.
To select any weapon system that has been placed on the map just use the scroll wheel on the mouse to scroll through the player’s weapons.
Placing weapons systems
At the start of the game the player is allowed to place a set amount of weapons system on the map these can be interceptor silos or patriot system but they can only be placed close to cities.
Cities
Each map has city actors on it each one has its own health when the city has lost all its health and is destroyed, the player will loose a set amount of health when all cities are lost the player looses the game.
