Just a quick note about the status of Infiltration War, the strategy based Infiltration league that not only clans can play - individuals too.

The first season is moving along at a decent rate after some teething troubles with people understanding what is expected of them. We are up to a total of 7 clans contending (after regrettable MIA's from clan SIXPACK, clan HSMA and clan GHOST) and 33 individual mercenaries, some of which have formed a temporary clan of their own and have taken over one of the territories on the world map.

The current "Richest Clan" honor belongs to new arrival XpK (who got a small monetary bonus since they have fewer territories, arriving late in the game as they did). The largest clan honor is split between Clans Limey, Trial by Fire and GAT. The only war currently pending is between clans GDP and Murder, Inc, for possession of DM-Seamus.

The Infiltration War league (INFWAR for short) utilizes two main components to make its goals real. These components are the dynamic global map, and the INFWAR mutator, written and constantly updated by Cpt. Pathetico. You can find more details on our site.

The goals of INFWAR are threefold:

1. To imbue the gameplay of Infiltration with greater realism by introducing global loadout costs, troop disposition, logistics and variable assault/defense costs. You can no longer just charge in with whatever you please - you have to have the entire clan (or mercenary squad) to consider. This encourages greater teamwork and logical plans of attack.

2. To expand the range of currently played maps. If you're tired of playing Sicily over and over, check out INFWAR - we have around 55 maps on our global map, most of them from the Infiltration mapping community.

3. To make teamwork a reality via a greater involvement of the individual in INFWAR. The INFWAR strategic map makes it easy to evaluate for any clan member where to attack next - unlike a standard ladder where matches are predetermined with no apparent logic. In addition, you can join the WAR as a mercenary and be hired by clans for assault/defense, or get enough mercs together and hold an uprising on one of the vacant territories to make things more interesting :D

If any of this sounds good, give INFWAR a look at http://www.planetunreal.com/infwar/

Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up since it's been quiet over here on the INFWAR front.

have you checked out the ILCR Strategy League? Sounds like you do the same thing, but (no offense to ILCR) you do it more thoroughly.

ICQ me @ 103161295...sounds very interesting.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing, since we (ILCR and the INFWAR team) came up with a very similar idea working totally independently, and started recruiting at about the same time. However, we'll be trying for a little more 'reality' in INFWAR then ILCR is - for example, we'll be inserting troop management into version 2 of the war - you'll be able to move a certain amount of troops into territories, and you'll only be able to respond to an attack, or launch one of your own with the troops that are in there - if you want more you have to wait until next turn to move them. So you'll have to be more strategically apt at management.

I'll add you to my ICQ list when I get back on my own PeeCee - for now please visit our forums and read up on all the latest :)
