A friend suggested that an infra red scope for the Robar which could see 'heat' through thin walls may be a nice addon (Like in the start sequence of BioHazard/resident evil 3 Code veronica. Also in the film Navy Seals seen attatched to a Beretta light fifty M82A1)

I don't know how realistic this would be, since Hollywood likes to exagerate. Also it may make it a bit too easy to kill people, so maybe, limited battery life and on/off toggle.

Getting these things (infra red or night vision) into UT is a hell of a job

I think an IR scope exist but it'd be too easy to kill with it.

theres a mod that does this, that no matter how dark it is the person always shows up a big red thing.

actually I think infra red or maybe night vision is a really good idea. Not for now maybe, since you guys have your hands full. Night vision would probably be a little easier. I don't have very much experience with either, but it seems to me that a flashbang would render either useless, thus setting the balance back.

it also doesnt need to be a scope, just the headgear for it. Furthermore if you had the headgear, you couldnt use the scope on a rifle with it on. I agree that using a scope like that would be near cheating, but in this case it isnt so bad.

oh, but seeing through walls would be really hard to implement and throw this balance off. Whats to other people think?

I think a nightvision scope would be decent, but I'd rather see an infrared scope (but it would have to have some disadvantage like crappy resolution or some type of interference so it wasn't good in all situations...) and nightvision goggles. Also, if you could somehow show that the person was wearing the goggles that way you could click the little flashlight on your MP5 on, thus blinding that sneaky little bastard. /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gif he he...

Well since I seem to be in a posting mood today think I'll just churn out another one ~grinz~. I agree that either night vision or ir would be difficult and perhaps to difficult to impliment in INF. As for how it would effect game play, that would depend on how it's implimented. As was suggested head gear would be one possability I have used the ir mod for UT but I only used it about five minutes stoped and deleted it every player turning into this big red blob was just to damn annoying. So if a similar system with better graphics could be implimented that might be nice. So far as r/l goes I've used lowlight scopes with an ir laser attached, and I have heard from reliable people that a usable thermal sight is floating around. But the most prevelant system I've seen used by C.T. and swat teams is a man with night vision glasses on and a ir laser attached to the weapon to aid in lowlight aiming since the view one gets from the vast majority of lowlight devices is not the sharpest in the world.

Personally, I would like to see an IR scope/headset sometime in the future. It need'nt be crammed into the next release in a rush, for it would be bad in the long run. But since you guys probably ARE planning a 'weapons pack' update, why not include it in there? You could counter-balance it's lethality (big words.. ow) by making it damned expensive, and capable of at least shutting it down when light is shined on it (like it does IRL, not like in Patriot Games).
