Infiltration: 8 years later

Eight years since the beginning of Infiltration: As Real as it Gets. The above quote was said a long time ago, but seven years later Infiltration is still alive, with players and development. Today Infiltration has 50+ guns, and most guns have attachments go along, giving you unlimited options of tools for the job. Be warned however each gun takes time to adapt to, in our unique free aim iron sight system, giving this game one very intense learning curve.To help get your started I have taken the liberty to link to you files that you will need to get started, be advised you will still not have all the maps on rotation for some servers. Please join as at the BeyondUnreal fourms and maybe see you for an intese game.

What is Infiltration?

Infiltration is an immersion into realism, driven by intense military combat, in a squad-based, mission-oriented shooter. Each of those missions brings the distinctive taste of multifaceted warfare in any environment you can imagine.

You will choose your gear prior to the mission, based on the kind of soldier you want to be. Decide from a cache of modern-day weapons, keeping in mind the size and weight of the equipment and how much you can carry. Each mission will allow you to become a unique soldier, based on the equipment and skill you contribute to the tasks at hand.

Infiltration was started in early 1999 by Jesse [Warren] Taylor and Chris [Catalyst] Robbers as a semi realistic mod for the original Unreal. It has since moved to Unreal Tournament and become the most realistic combat simulation available. (INF TEAM)


Infiltration currently features:
  • 50+ different weapons and special attachments for customization.
  • Working Night vision
  • Realistic bulk and movement
  • Wide range of realistic environments

I think someone should compile the INF 2.9 install, DS mappack, and Bonus Pack into one .exe file.
All the other community stuff should be compiled into another .exe

That way newcomers only have to install 4 things:
UT
436 patch
INF 2.9 Compilation
INF Community Add-on Pack

Those are great screenshots :) Too bad people don't actually play like that. Also, your gamma is too high! Blacks should be black, not grey.

I thought that thoes patches were just mutators....
And they were intergrated into the bonus pack.
Unless some comunity memeber decided to mess with them and I missed it

Both are mutators, the first one fixes the bulk value "with suppressor attachment that can be found in the BonusPack for 2.9", so I'm not sure if they repacked the Bonuspack after this "patch".

i remember hearing that the miniuzi fix is obsolete because of another mutator that fixes it also.

If they needed that, it should download from the server,
anyhow the miniuzi serverside patch iirc.
but Ill see if I can find a link to them.

I can not think of anything that would put a player at a disadvantage in online play if they didnt have something. I personally think that the mini uzi and pickup menu can be downloaded when they connect to the server

they atleast need the readme to know how to set up the binds so they dont ask all those freaking questions...

The point was to get them online as fast as possible.
With access to all the equipment.
We can direct them to more specialized addon lateron.

Anyhow most people are friendly toward noobs, exept noobs tend not to be so friendly to other noobs.

I don't have a frickin' clue how to compile an .exe! But it needs to be done, I am sure someone here knows how to do it.

The best thing would of course be a single .exe that they download and just install to get everything they need for online play. But I think Sentry Studios wouldn't like community stuff jumbled up with their official 2.9 release files.

The fewer steps necessary to play INF, the easier it will be to get new players. The easier it is, the more players we get.

We should take every effort to make installing INF as easy and as foolproof as possible.
