Ive been thinking and my brain starts to hurt but i got some ideas to make Infiltration even more realistic

-Gun jams- there should be a small percentage everytime that you pull the trigger that the gun will jam. This should make the player take the time to unjam the gun. I really dont think that every gun is perfect when it comes to gun jams but there are some that have smaller percentage of jamming then others.

-Different ammo for same gun- There are some guns that can carry different types of ammo. Why not make some ammo clips spawn randomly in a level that would contain a different set of ammo for the same gun. Maybe even different grenades for the H&k69 or even a Heat seeking missle for the AT4 but those are just suggestions.

-Have a more precise zoom on sniper rifles- I dont really think ive seen a sniper rifle with 4 zooms all the ones ive seen have the twist and zoom effect where you can have a 210% setting and a 220% setting but as you hold down the zoom button then it will cycle throught the numbers faster.

-last shot- When a player is killed he should be able to get a couple hits off as he goes down(unless shot in the head of course, but you can make it so his finger spasms and fires a couple shots off randomly) You ever see quake2 when you gun down one of the big grunt things (cant remember name) but there fingers hold the trigger as they go down and the result is flying bullets from a dead man.

We already dicussed about jamming. We decided not to implement that. It makes winning of a match depending on luck, at least a little bit.
Imagine, Infiltration guns are always clean and well maintained.

Different ammo is already on the list of ideas. /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gif

I suppose you mail Warren with that sniper idea. The zoom mode as you want it is quite unrealistic but I'd love to have regular crosshairs.

The last idea is funny. Mail that too!

You must be talking about video game 'sniper rifles'. The animation and design for the sniper rifles is realistic, its not a video camera on the gun, you need to manually adjust it, just like in the game, so it should stay the same. I think I remember Warren saying that the crosshairs would be like that of a real life scope as well.

The clinching finger of a dead man is a movie fallacy. While Im sure it happens in a small percentage of GSW deaths, it is largely a hollywood creation. Most people when shot dead, fall over and die, not much else.

Ya it does happen. Reminds me of this story about a mortition who was going into his basement and saw a dead person sitting up. Scared him so bad he sold the business and opened a restaurant.

Enough to pull trigger weight, though? Geuss it all depends on the spasm size, but I still say that in the majority of cases, not enough happens to pull trigger weight.

Doesnt that also follow the same line of reasoning as the gun jamming arguement? Getting shot by a dead man would essestially be bad luck, and would upset many people. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If we did anything like that, I think it'd be better have the guy's arms fly apart while squeezing the trigger- maybe it randomly works- but the bullets would be sparratic and getting hit by them wouldn't happen often- but it's a thing that will really take a back burner- if at all. Features like this are cool, until they cause a lot of programming overhead- especially when they don't happen often enough.

To the Head-Shot spasm...
If this is really the way, why is the so called 'final-shot' always a head shot ??
The 'final-shot' is used on terrorists or other bad-guys, when they are pointing a weapon at the head of their hostage...
So I think, the chance for 'spasm firing' after a head-shot is near 0% and not the other way around like written in the post above.

I think this idea might be pushing the realism envelope. Feasably, then, everyone could kill the other person as theyre dying. I thnk the only gun you could pull the trigger weight with would be the M9, but then I wouldnt know

Bullets stop by inducing unconsciousness and they can do it two ways: by bloodloss or damaging the CNS.
Even if the head is cut off it's still conscious for 20 sec or more.
With a body hit the victim can be conscious for a minimum of 5 minute unless a "I'm hit" psychological reaction sets in.
CNS hits can produce muscle spasms, but are far more lethal than the average gun shot wound.
If you can't feel any pain it's beyond what the body itself can heal, so it's actually a good sign if it hurts like bad language.
