I need help

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

today my cd-drives stopped working
in the device manager cd-drive properties windows says

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

Anyone have a clue how to fix this?

I was gonna say EXACTLY what hourences said, but outside of that i can't help you. I can say that you'll get an answer or at least a bunch of help within a half hour if you post on www.hardforum.com that's where i go for that kinda stuff :)

Depending on the OS you are running:

In W2K, run a repair,
98, run a registery restore
in ME/XP run a restore.

The error is the clue, it says there is registry problems, either something go boggled in the code or a VXD file has gotten moved or corrupted. The above should fix either of the above, with the exception of the 98 reg restore, which will not fix a missing or ocrrupt VXD file, you would want to run File Checker for that.

and if you don't know how to do any of those things, well use the damn help, that's what it is there for.

I had that problem before and I ran a registry cleaning program.

Worked perfectly after that.
I will never let go of my Reg Cleaner.

Get it.
