Hosting my own game?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I'm not positive about this, but just set up a listening server. Make an online game, and make sure you have it to advertise with the main server. Then just put a password on it and there you go.

Hmm, I have no idea what a listening server is? I need some instructions if possible, I’m not very good with server type of stuff.

I have Bulletproof Server installed on my system, would that be of any help?

A listening server is just when you play a game, and invite others to join you. Okay, I think this is what you are supposed to do, but I haven't done it, so I'm not sure.
  1. Click on Net War
  2. Go to the Game Section and choose your maps, etc.
  3. Click on SVR CFG (Give it a name, advertise it, etc)
  4. Click on SVR Info to customize it how you want it.
  5. Then just simply Launch Game
    [/list=1]

    I hope this helps. :)

I'm going to be getting a very fast optical cable connection, but it's behind a firewall hideing my IP.

Is there any way I'll be able to put a server up?

Randomas, It's no problem setting up a server, but you need to give the server permission to access the net and act as a server. How this is done depends on what FW you are usingbut usually this is very easy. The FW will ask you if you want the server to access the net. All you need to do is click "Yes" :)

I run Norton on my comp and I've never had a problem setting up a server :)

Wish it were that simple ......

What this company does is they wire up a building and have a comon firewall I probably won't have access to ......

If the firewall were on my machines I could probably find a workaround but this one sounds lika a tricky one ......
