If you use a VGA cord from your PC to your HDTV the resolution will go only as high as the VGA connection will allow and the image will appear stretched and generally visually unappealing on your HDTV (I tried this ... it was not pretty, and I think a part of me died). As far as I can tell, based on what I've read on various hardware sites and forums (and specifically on the silentpcreview.com forums) the HDMI card, as long as it's decently powered, should be able to display as high as your TV's native resolution will allow, which I think is something like 1920×1080 if you have 1080p. I'm finding it difficult to get simple, concrete answers on this stuff, and to make matters worse I can't really use my current PC for researching this because the video card is failing and it's just a mess trying to even surf the internet, so here I am at work doing the research. If you're interested, try starting your research with HTPC (home theatre personal computer), which should point you to a number of sites that discuss what to consider when attempting to turn your PC into a machine that'll be rad to hook up to your TV. It's been quite time consuming and I feel like a little baby who should be pushed in a stroller. My friend's free cell phone minutes start in 23 minutes so hopefully he'll tolerate my baby ways and simply point me to which hardware I need to buy so I can point, click and purchase already. Then, I'll have to learn how to build it, which should be cool. Maybe I'll have to ask the Rukee for some pointers when it gets to that point.
