In case you actually needed reasons to be interested in Batman Arkham City, here are twenty from the publisher. Holy Hotness... Catwoman alone is enough for me to plunk down my bundle of cash. Rowr.

Two-face looks to be modeled after his Dark Knight counterpart which is fine by me. Game is looking fantastic.

you know, I haven't played a Batman game since Sega Genesis.
but the more I see and read about the Arkham series, the more I want to try it. someone riddle me this: what kind of villains appear in the Arkham games?
aside from Two Face and the Joker-type clowns.

    does Bane make an appearance?
    you remember, this guy:

    what about Mr. Freeze?
    or the Penguin?

Bane is in Arkham Asylum along with Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Joker, and the Riddler (though you never get to see the Riddler). There might have been some others, but you only see Mr. Freeze's cell, and you don't see Penguin.

If you haven't played Arkham Asylum yet, this is tragic. That game is absolutely the best Batman game ever made, if not the best superhero video game ever made.

You should REALLY check out Arkham Asylum. It's an extremely good Batman game.

Here are the villians in Asylum:
Bane, Zsasz, Scarecrow, the Joker, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.

Cameo appearances (non interactive) by: Clayface, Scarface and Ra's al Ghul

Puzzles are left throughout by Riddler

Visual references to: Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Calendar Man and Two-Face

The really cool thing is that you can listen in on audio logs between the villians and their "doctor" in psychiatric sessions that took place while they were imprisoned in Arkham Asylum.

All the characters for Arkham City haven't been revealed, but we do know that the Joker, the Riddler, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, Hugo Strange, Catwoman, Victor Zsasz, Harley Quinn and Talia al Ghul will be in the game in some form.

I am much more excited to see Harley Quinn than I am Catwoman. If only Harley Quinn was a playable character, that would seriously be...words just can't describe how awesome that would be.

Screens look great, but I'm more excited to hear what the multiplayer will be like. Co-op would be amazing!

it's a 3rd-person action game with stealth elements.
    right?

does it handle anything like Assassin's Creed?
I'm talking strictly about the gameplay.
what I mean is, it looks like you can either go around attracting attention and beating up large groups of enemies, or you can sneak around and isolate certain enemies. maybe take them out without anyone else noticing.

can I assume that all of the best Batman gadgets are at your disposal?
"flying squirrel" flight, grappling hook, boomerangs, smoke bombs, etc.

I thought both Assassin's Creed games were fun :(

aside from having to watch to un-skippable cutscenes...
I didn't realize you guys did such comprehensive reviews.
this has pretty much sold me on Arkham

my only concern was that the environment seemed a little stale; since the whole thing takes place on this prison island. it might feel like I'm just playing one big level. but the variety in exploration and the versatility of Batman as you progress and gain skills has put that fear to rest.

this sounds like an extremely well executed game, and now I'm trying to remember why I passed over it in the first place

I only played the first one (on PC), and it quickly became a tedious repetitive game. And basically a non-assassin game, it was impossible to avoid direct confrontation in most cases.

That was the case for pretty much everybody. Most people more or less ignored the game, brushed it off a standard licensed comic based IP game. Until they actually played the game/demo.
As far as I know this was the first game ever to have the common response of "holly crap... this game is actually awesome". Even Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw agreed: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/926-Batman-Arkham-Asylum
And it case you don't know, if Yahtzee says a game is good, it should be high on your "to play list".
