Ok, i successfully failed my final exams(2 of them). I saved a bit of money, but it won't last long. Now, i have two choices:

a) Go back home, which means going right away to army. Not very good, cuz i like UT much more than Chechnya.

b) Try another year in the uni. I'm not gonna study business again - just don't like it. I want to try design. Anybody did a degree in it? Just trying to get more information on it, so i can choose what's the best to do.

B. is the correct answer.

BUT if you should decide "A" then avoid the Army, Try the Air Force or Navy first. The AF and Navy are forces of Technicians not soldiers.

I agree... being a military brat (my dad had 22 years in the AF) my dad told me to go into the military as a last resort!

Consider choice "B" very seriously. Education is always the best answer, becuase you can use it as you find your niche, where in the military you learn a position or two, but then you will be pigeon-holed in that area.

Do what you love, cuase you'll be doing it for years and years and years.... /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

Option B man. design is a lttle too vauge of what you say, but thats good on what you didn't say (just follow along /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif )

what i mean by that weird statement above is, design could branch out into many things. lets take for instance, archetechual design, programming design, artist design etc. there are so many choices. im planning to take design to do with computers and programming. who knows, you might even see my name in the credits of the next UT or quake or something (probably not! /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif )

I wanna have my own gaming company where all we do is make and play games. i kinda have that now, but i want it to be bigger. expand!

I hope this was helpful SSSHAD

MAN! Hire me... I'd love to get paid to play games all day! I can already write fairly well, and I know a few big words that I could slap into a review/manual/press release, etc. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

However, I am still stuck in the text adventure days as far as my coding games goes... check my web site to see a screen shot...

heh.. i can get a whole team here for making a latest game. I've got a team of 5 ready for working on Night Stalkers: Vampires Kiss. it kinda has elements from many games, such as a plot simular to Castlevania for n64 (this is what i want it to be like, just longer with a more detailed story, the unreal engine, deeply composed soundtrack, etc.), HeXen II's search type of gameplay (search for the key or item),first person shooter elements (thief comes to mind) andthird person type elements like Castlevania.

im trying to make a game like Castlevania for the PC as you can see here. there are 20 weapons to use, 5 characters to play as, spanning 40 levels, using the unreal engine (gotta get liscensing rights), miny quests etc. sounds pretty standard eh? well, im working on a physics engine so that most objects in the game can be implemnted, like you pick up a rock and throw it, use a chair as a weapon. we need more people, so if ya would like to help, email me with some experience. i could explain better some time about the game.

SSSHAD - the world is full of surprises. you never know! =)

Taskmaster - hehe. What kind of language you know? C, VB, C+, QBASIC(HAHA,sorry had to laff)?

Zaccix - i might be in tounch, might be. i have a nice story progrssing along, but if i need help, your the man, allright? hehe.

I'm not versed in the 3D engines and I hate math, so I don't like all the geometry and such used in 3D games.. hence I am stuck writing little adventure games! /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

ah. but 3D engine work branches off in different aspecs, especially when with use of the Unreal engine. We need modelers, levelers, textureers, etc.

nothing wrong with little adventure games.

/~unreal/ubb/html/biggrin.gif half-true. It's like that - i come home and know that i have 2 chapters of marketing bull**** to read, BUT first thing i do: -> go on the net, play -> go to 3DMax and have fun -> read heaps of tutorials on diff. graphic editors and practise. Well, it's already next day, 8 am, time to go and do my mkting test :p
