  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Hi. I wanted to wrote about subject of improving in Unreal Tournament 2004. I know it's dying, but it has certain importance for me.
I have been playing ut2004 for good 1,5 years, mostly just for fun, and not taking it too seriously. Server I played in was mostly just fun&spam, and whenever I took more serious approach, I got lot of 'cheater' taunts :)
Recently I had a big pause on game, and now I have seen those fancy fragmovies and I feel like im up for it once again :D
I just would like to improve my skills - like serious this time.
How shall I go with this?
I must need what settings to use, as I lost my previous settings :/
My specs are

Processor: INTEL E8400 CORE2D 3.0GHZ 1333/6M S775
Processorcooler: Xigmatek Apache CD901 CPU cooler
Memory: 4GB 800MHZ DDR2
Motherboard: P5Q DELUXE
Soundcard: 8ch HD (VIA VT1708S)
Harddrive:SAMSUNG 500GB SATAII 16MB
Optical drive: SAMSUNG SATA 20X DVDRW MUSTA + NERO
Graph driver: ATi Radeon HD4870 - 1GB

Windows7

BenQ 22 " G2220HD screen

I also have Logitech MX518 mouse, which im satisfied into, but I need new keyboard, as my current is more like classic model and makes it hard to make rapid movements(any good razer keyboards out there; not any uberexpensive one?)

Play at maximum texture and physics detail and settings, your machine will get bored otherwise. ;)
It may also make sense to enable most of those detail checkboxes, except maybe foilage (looks pretty but partially hides players). Also, world detail might be better put to a setting other than high, though it may hide semi-important parts of some levels, like the puddles on Rankin, which actually make noise if you step into them.

Play at the lowest graphical setting at whatever resolution, disable coronas, disable all music, disable all announcers, increase ambient sounds to 1.00000, fov 80, hidden weapons, force enemy models to Gorge, disable own footsteps, set brightskins to either bright green or bright pink, bind each weapon to a button on the keyboard / mouse, never use mousewheel to scroll through weps, lower your mouse sensitivity, and join the 1v1 DM tourny at www.covcup.com

I dont need to look at the pretty textures when all I need to see is my opponent.

I play at 1024 X 768, all at the lowest settings, but with 0 fog.

I can max out everything, but choose not to.

Its just like some of those elite quake players. Some of them play with no textures, like everything is one color.

Increase everything while you're at it, your computer needs some kind of work, no matter how little it may seem to it. :c
