Got tired of all these "farewell fellow members of this fine community. I have enjoyed our time together but alas, I have to get on my horse and gallop off into the sunset. Please post telling me how much you will miss me and how much better the world would be if I would stay so I can smile as I lay my lack-of-self-confidence head down on my pillow tonight" letters and just wanted to post one about the good things in this community.

  1. There is a community. That is the best thing about Inf and games like it is that there is a community. A lot of people sharing ideas (sure some bitch but that's their right) and a few who actually put their coding skills to work and produce something. <--I have a bitch here too. Some of you should be ashamed of the way you reacted to the new weapons put out by Duke and the InfModTeam. You are given something free like the XM8 and some of you whined and cried like 7-year old girls who just had their dollies stolen. Next time, if you don't like it, compliment them for their efforts and constructively suggest changes or just ignore it all together. If you don't want it on a server. ask the admin. If he/she does not remove it, either shut-up or run your own server.
  2. There are knowledgable people here. Unlike most other communities, we actually have people here that learned what they know about weapons, combat and tactics from real life rather than google and G.I. Joe. We should all appreciate that because many other communities don't have it.
  3. We have committed server admins. Odie, Cleeus and many others have shown their committment to this community by keeping servers running for us all.
  4. We have fun here. Even tho sometimes I swear people here act like mental patients on acid trips, it is a lot of fun here and on the servers. Even when people are being asses (not naming names) they are usually funny about it.
  5. The developers are here, among us. We see members of the development and test team here all the time. Lots of people whine because they do not always take our advice, well that's their perogative and, on the other hand, I can point to post after post where, even though the SS guys may not like the mutator that is being made, etc. they still lend a coding hand. And we can all see many great additions to the game the Beppo has put out at our request. For years these guys have developed and improved on a game and they still are not giving up. We are lucky for that as we all know there is nothing even resembling Infiltration our there to replace it if it were gone.
  6. It's Free! Come on. How can anyone complain? This is a free game. Name the last time you got something for free (does not include forging other people's names on those Columba House Music subscriptions). So you may have gotten a free small fry with a coupon. Maybe even a car wash. How many hours of awesome play have you had with Inf over the years?

That is why I love it here, have always loved it here and will always love it here. To those who are deciding to leave. We might miss ya, but in the end, its definately your loss.

Lol, yeah, I hold onions to my eyes as I tearily wave goodbye to the rats leaving inf. I get so tired of the long goodbye messages and then the guys show back up a month later. Saw tons of this in the True Combat forums and Urban Terror forums. Usually some prick who thought the world of himself and thought people would actually miss him  I'll probably stay awhile because so far this is the most realistic sim I have found yet.

Ehehehhehe

You're right though.

People do moan something shocking. The worst is definitely the moaning and the feelings of entitlement some people seem to suffer from.

Ya with some its like SS or the community owes them something. You only get out of something what you put into it. So, if all a person is going to do is whine, then I figure we have not lost much. Those that really add value to the community (Tiffy, for example) you have to see go, but someone else will step up and fill the void. None of us are irreplaceable. This community will outlive us all. :)

I'm not going anywhere either. I've been here since late 2000 and I'll probably be here for another four years. I love the game, the guys who make it and those who play it. Well, most of them anyway :p

Well, yesterday I played online for the first time in ages...and I'm completely hooked again :) I have lost a lot of skill (first games where embarassing) but still a very enjoyable experience. Seems the spawn killing, rushing to meet attackers etc is there nomore, during the 4-5 hours I had not one unpleasant experience (other than beeing dead alot). I guess it is farely safe to say I'm here to stay (even if I take a break now and then). See you online!

Hey Lord Kee where you playing on GD? Reason I ask if because with new reinforcment settings it seems ppl are less likely to spawn camp etc due to fear of death :)

Don't remember NT, I'm pretty ignorant to names and such. I just jumped on the first available server that was populated :)
Played yesterday as well, this time I went to an empty DTAS server, played with the bots for a while and in 20 mins or so it was populated. Later in the evening it was actually crowded with some fun and entertaining gameplay. I came to realize I suck at DTAS :)
