Happy Birthday NC :)

Hey Nali City ...

Just wanted to say "happy birthday" to the admins and everyone!

A day without NaliCity is like a day without, erm, Unreal :D

... thinking back a number of years, about all those wacky reviewers - they all seemed more like personalities in newsroom, like they had "desks" in an office, or something like that - i thought that was pretty cool :)

Oh, and those damn NC "map packs" - iirc every week - those things always made sure my dialup was over the limit and that i had very little free space left on my old 6g hard-drives, LOL!

Hmm, fond memories of the day of the huge corona, flat-moon skybox and all too often unlit map... good and bad maps all mixed up in one bag, and a new bag every week --

... i remember Aggressive Tendancies just floored me when i first loaded it up, and also remember finding HOMs in a DavidM map (sunday i think it was) - I remember i thought i should post a nasty comment and nail the guy - then i'd be like a hero or something, lol! but alas, i had second thoughts about that and didn't and so was doomed forever to lurk... :D

anyways, NC is a great peice of Unreal history (actually, it _is_ unreal history) other sites faded, but NaliCity was always there ... standing out in the crowd -- i remember feeling some stress when i heard the site was leaving Planet Unreal, but thankfully found another home on BU - and remained reasonably intact - GJ to those guys - that musta been a tough job to pull off ... but big thanks!

Nowadays, I just love poking through the database whenever the mood hits, often just randomly, looking at all the maps and reading the comments and reviews (new and old) ... really makes me wonder about "whatever happened to" many mappers who made some nice maps and then disappeared -- moved on in RL(tm) i suppose, there no way to ever know (unless you know someone personally, of course)

CyberSpace is a strange, fluid place, but NaliCity remains a cornerstone, or pillar in the Unreal world, and hopefully will remain for many years to come ...

So big thanks QAPete, and to everyone else over the long years --
You are all special people and you all ROCK!

I was hoping NC become more ,I mean "the spot" to go for mapping help.I tried to get a few other high end mappers to come back and make this the best site yet.
For some reason they left and am not realy sure why they won't come back, but they should.

And ya, NC was THE place, and is cool and it is still around, and I am very glad they arn't tied up in with "planet"
Do you guys know that there was a small program written for Quake1, it found the servers online, like in UT menus nowdays.
But it was called "quakespy" well that same program became gamespy, and then all those planet this, planet that, sites popped up. I can't fricking remember but that fileplanet was somthing else before that, and there was no sighning up then, now it sux.

Rock on ..........NC

Thanks for the great mapping resources, archives and all that. This site gets visited most days.

Looking forward to more NC goodness........

Second that and add that I download a lot of maps here based on the comments of the regulars. I wonder about some of the names that have disappeared over the last few years.

Give my regards to Vandora.........:)

I've enjoyed working on NC, and I remember the good ol' times looking for awesome maps to play with my friends in RL and online. I'm glad I've had the opportunity to give so much back to the community. I hope (when it comes around) you guys find NC4 functional, useful and fun!

I wholeheartedly agree. Nalicity is the map site I visit most.
I think I remember how it was five years ago...
You had the opportunity to download mappacks iirc...
(Been a long time)

Congrats NC, for being such an excellent site ^_^
