Hack ISS 6.0 Contest

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Why hold the Hack IIS 6.0 Challenge?
1: Most security breaches are caused by not following basic security guidelines and best practices. We want to put IIS 6.0 to the test to see if it is highly secure when you implement it correctly.
2: Because it's a fun way to engage with you, our audience!
3: It's a chance to share knowledge and demonstrate how to protect your system against hack attempts. Coming in our August issue, we'll publish an article "How to Set Up a Hackproof IIS" featuring Roger Grimes' recap of the contest, and sharing the secrets of how he created an impenetrable IIS environment.
I give it about 3 days.

Its a basic static webpage running on IIS. All it does is accepts requests from a browser on port 80 and returns a page, nothing else.

Thats totally different to deploying a web server, or any type of server in the real world, so the whole excercise is rather pointless. You might as well hack my toaster.
