"Rescuers reached a cluster of brightly colored helium party balloons floating in the ocean off Brazil's coast Tuesday but did not find the Roman Catholic priest who had been using them in a bid to set a flight record."

Saw this show about how we are destroying our planet. There are places in the ocean where the currents circulate on top of the water, and they go round and round for miles. They found that plastic gets caught up here, and since it virtually never degrades, it’s going to stay there and keep accumulating.

There were all sorts of plastic crap floating atop the water, but then they trolled with a fine mesh net that you’d use for plankton and found little pieces of plastic mixed in with the water and the plankton. In fact, they found that sometimes there were more pieces of plastic than there was plankton, and plankton is a major part of the ocean food chain.

Then they found these birds that were dead and dying and discovered they had swallowed plastic. One had a baby pacifier in its stomach. Others had bottle caps, straws, all sorts of crap.

Now holy man is adding to the pollution with his balloons. Way to go, holy man.
