Dear Unwheel Code writers, and all unwheel players too!

Your Mod is good, but cars slip all over the place, get stuck, and routes are
not cool or interesting enough.

Cars don't turn well....to finicky with maneuvering....too "flippy overy"
Cars loose too much control at high speeds..
Cars don't jump well...at least they land terribly.

Not enough jumps in races....Lower the Gravity...up the traction...

AI...are stupid and don't race.

It should be all out high speed fun....with arrow keys sufficing...not some
fancy steering wheel set up....So please don't develop one..

Don't make Crazy Fast Racing so hard.
But at the very least...make the weight of the cars heavier
or make them stick to the road much better.
and yet let us enjoy the Dicotomy of cars that can jump half a kilometer
through the air at times. let us say very often.

Yes Yes....give them nuances and differences but aim at
them all driving properly in all Arenas....
Remember Carma? or even ATV 2 off road.

Then do it better. But mostly remember Carmageddon...It has never been
done better... You guys are the closest to cracking and betting its model.
Gran Tourismo and Need for speed are a different beast completely. Forget them.

Follow the Carma....and combine that with UT2004 graphics
and you've got GAME OF THE YEAR........
let us roam and jump anywhere...Let us jump higher then the stars...
Let us Rock......put speed ups and special power ups all over the place...

Its not there yet....driving-wise.

All the best,

Easy to criticize from this chair,
I know.. My apologies...
Fantastic Mod over all..

R SARK.

 ;) ;) ;)

a) it not a weight problem with the cars, we tried increasing weight, did nothing.(if you know how to eliminate the bounce, let us know, cause we've been unsuccessful in our attempts so far)

b) We have never ever claimed to be a true driving simulator.

c) read the forums, the problems you mentioned have been posted 1000 times already

d) noone is forcing you to play the mod, it's free. If you don't like it don't play it, simple. :)

Fair Comments....Love the Mod. Do developers get $$ for free MODS?

"No one is forcing you to play the mod"...administrator.

Great I was hoping for some feedback.
My critique, and poor spelling, does not mean I don't like the mod.
It's top notch!
If changing the car weight did not work. Fine.

Folks. It's cool... This is a forum for positive and negative feedback?
right? No problem here?

I'm just putting in my 2 cents.
A bit of stirring the pot. a bit of Feedback
Positive and Negative.
Respect to the developers!

Free the Mod is..
Everyone appreciates that.
Many of the best Mods are Free.
But don't developers get development cudos, and possibly future contracts from their endevors?
So even a free Mod can bring a development team profit?
Resume boosting. Stand alone Spin offs?
Or prize money?
I dunno...Someone tell me. I'm NOT TRYING TO BE CYNICAL...I seriously don't know the answer.

Would be interested to know, if anyone wants to reply.

Is the Admin or Coder who posted his reply
saying you're making nothing doing this?
If so then my hat off to you for
spending so much time on a labor of love?
Very rare these days.
But prehaps not so rare in the Game Making Community.
You're a better man then I.

As for Not having to play it?
But I want to play it.
It's a very good Mod.
My Point was more.
Would like to see Big Arenas and more jumps, better traction
For Free! a little greedy?....my apoligies..

I see all the effort you guys have put into it.
All the hard work, and time.
Didn't your mod win 2nd prize or was it 1st prize in Phase 2 or 3?
Whatever it was......Well done. Again better then I can do.

Still I guess I do like the sound of a Carma Hybrid
But Unwheel is Unwheel...
Unwheel may be the best there is. Some will say it Crushes Carma I and II

So it's beers and Pizza all around...people

Cheers...

R Sark.

PS....
I just fliped 10 times off one of the Unwheel Jumps...
Nice Jump Design!
Thank you for making that possible!!!
to all the development team!!!!

I would say that most of the good mods out there are not being made so they can get a job in the industry. They are making mods because it is a hobbie not a attempt to get a job. Also this racing mod is based on racing not another racing game. The reason I mod is that i like racing games and wanted to make the race tracks if they dont look cool or good enough for you go buy a racing game or make one better.

PS. You have to expect a non perfect racing mod when its being made in a FirstPerson Game.

Very Kind Post....Cheers.
Ultra's very cool...honest...stands up for his team...

Last post for me, then time to call it a day.
so much Unwheel I've been playing!!!
It's been a lot of Fun. But got to get some work done.

Just tried the following in UNWHEEL config on Most Maps
Got a very Interesting Grippy, Mostly Low bounce, Fun Result.
I'm aware that fun is a personal, relative, perceptual thing.

So someone else may think these settings give a completely different
result...or are just plain rubbish.....Would be interested to know.
Tell it to me straight...Don't hold back.

With these settings on my box, I got that drive I was looking for,
and jump recovery.

a) I Set Karma Physics to Low.
(would have loved to see what ultralow would be like if its adjustable via coding or console.)

b) Added Mutator called AIR CONTROL at 6.60
c) Added Mutator called Low Grav
(would be interesting if one could increase this using a multiplier)

d)Added Mutator called Lightweight Vehicals with momentum multi = 10.
(counter intutive but it seemed to work!)

e) Used these settings exclusively with the YoMoto SFR-XL car.
(what ever distiguishes this car in {code form}...I dunno..but it's a cool car)

The driving was smooth and grippy set up like this for me.
I'm interested if anyone else gets a similar result.
Do the settings add the universal stickyness I think they're adding?
Can they be tweaked further?

anyway...
FANTASTIC FUN...

More Pizza and Beer to all unwheel
coders and gamers, unless you're under 21 then its
Orange juice and Pizza with Veges for good health.

Kind Regards,

R Sark.

;) :)

Right behind you.
Woah! guys calm down!

Right here's the deal, everything I post is either a simple fact or a joke. I desperately try not to put emotions into my posts cos they sometimes get misunderstood across internet. What I posted was a fact, we are making an original game, andnot a carmaggedon clone so obviously it is gonna feel different to carmageddon.

It is true we've had flames but I've had to endure most of them (such as good 'ole kinetik) and this guy is far from flaming. He loves te mod so much that he wants to make it perfect, but his ideas clash with ours, that's to be expected.

Ultra Read a post asking for a carmaggedon clone, now he's laboured hard on converting all the Vehicles to SVehicles and he feels that his work is being judged as "sub par". Which I completely understand, having to deel with lots of people telling me my maps "suck" (and sadly after the first dozen you realise they're right). Ultra all you've got to do is realise he's a fan of our mod and that's good enough! If he wants to make this mod the bst it can be the let him make his suggstions, some of them we might do if they sound like they fit with the kind of game we're trying to make. But some we will not.

The most important thing when being criticised online is to read the post several times, because often the messages do not convey emotions correctly. And then count to twenty before replying.

Peace guys.

I think I know what the guy's asking for with regard to driving physics.
I haven't tried his concoction of mutators and settings, but the Scorpion modifications that MadNad has done for Excessive Overkill give it a bit of air control, so while the wheels aren't in contact with the ground, you can still steer and the transition between grip and no grip seems to be a bit more forgiving than a speeding F1 on a bumpy track.
I encourage anyone to check out Excessive for ONS and drive the Scorpion for a bit till they get comfortable with the controls.
The major problem I have with it is that it's giving you car control in the air which is kinda iffy in racing games, but it serves to keep an otherwise wild machine under control for the most part...leave it to your opponents to hit knock you into a flat spin with the flack cannon, though. :)
Anyways, keep on moddin and we'll keep on playin.

Hey R Sark
here are the results of the MSUC phase 2 and 3, I just cut and pasted what shrimp posted on the main UnWheel page :)
http://unwheel.beyondunreal.com

Phase 2
"Hmm, I see this is the first real news post since Epic announced the Phase 2 results for the MSU contest, so if you've been living under a rock for the past week, and for the sake of the team who are rather excited don't mind hearing this again - I'd like to just mention that UnWheel has officially won first place in the Best Non-FPS, Best Vehicle and Best Use of Karma Physics categories!!"

Phase 3
"Secondly, in case you have missed the news from elsewhere, UnWheel once again won several awards in the third phase of the Make Something Unreal Contest, including 3rd place for Best Non-FPS Mod, 2nd for Best Vehicle, and 1st for Best Use of Karma Physics. Congratulations and thanks are due to everyone on the team who contributed to our contest entry, Beta 3."

a little emotion B Good...Bro

J3110 wrote "I haven't tried his concoction of mutators and settings"

So try the concoction. Give feed back. I think the settings rock.
Maybe they suck. Someone tell me.
You will run circles around your opponents.... I think

To ProjectX and Ultra New-B
Prehaps passion is good and a little emotion too, in my humble opinion.
I can see from all your posts you guys really believe and connect strongly with your modding and what you're doing.

Total Masterpieces come from passion like your teams.
Renoir's impressionism, Michelangelo's "David",
Picasso's "Three Musicians" ,
Unwheel's "Unwheelism"

Not many people in the world can do what you guys do.....very very few....I know some programmers and most have a huge respect for the level one needs to be at to program Games.

It may be harder then any other kind of programming. Whether you're using an editor or working with C or C++ or whatever.

You guys are becomeing the new rock stars of the 21 century.
One day the likes of a Connery or a De Niro will turn down a movie script to do a game adventure or FPS script... I'm sure of it.

Ok...don't want to overdo the compliments and give you all big heads.

I digress....

OH NO...Work's almost over...
So soon I must go.
And play MORE UNWHEEL!
With Passion, Thrust, and mighty steel!

Later, Peace...

c) Added Mutator called Low Grav

It's possible, because I don't actually play big air that much, but I think Shrimp added air-control to vehicles when playing that gametype. Is this true? If so, cool.

I think it's a welcome addition to Big Air, but it would be annoying in race.
