General Protection Fault while playing LMS

I was spectating after being killed for the third time. I was watching one of the Klasnic raptors and he was wearing the Boots of Jumping, when the game crashed to the desktop.

The only changes I've made recently have been adding some new models (Death, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Kouryuu, Cyclone Centurion and the G Raptor skin. Death, Prime, Megatron and G Raptor were on the map at the time of the crash. I also added a couple of maps: Nefarious][, Haunted Mansion SE and Camel Toed Hoes. I also enabled map pickups for LMS.

I found boots of jumping seemed to cause random GPFs too.
Never did find out why.

I don't like them anyway so it's no loss to not play maps that have them.

I don't like them at all.

Perhaps the problem I had was I had downloaded the UT2003 version of the map that had the mutator. Perhaps mutators for UT2003 don't work properly with 2004.

Maybe, it was a while ago now.
When I tried to troubleshoot the issue I used a vanilla 2k4 install & just installed the custom maps that had jump boots [some version of deck & maybe tempest? + a couple of others] & it would only GPF on those maps & the GPF would mostly occur when a bot used the boots while in my view. Not everytime but that appeared to be the event that routinely triggered it.

Could a map that came with the mutator be played without installing the mutator, or would it refuse to load if I didn't have it?

The BootsOfJumping are no mutator, they are an embedded pickup. You can't really play a map without them. And yes, using UT2003 UnrealScript bytecode in UT2004 is a bad idea. Code should be recompiled for UT2004, maps should be rebuild and StaticMesh packages should be saved in UT2004 UnrealEd.
