I'd be more interested if they were free.

For free 3D models, TurboSquid and the Google SketchUp Warehouse are good places to start.

Most models on TurboSquid (free ones) are worthless for unreal game. Almost all i checked have missing uv mapping in some parts. Even DeEspona ones have some mapping errors, that are fine on 3dmax renders, but in game like ut3 look really ugly.

To use TurboSquid models you need to uv map them, but that is almost as much work and skill needed as for creating own model. And do not forget second uv chanell you probably want for proper lighting that none of models hard.

True, but it will also give that aspiring artist out there a chance to practice on those models as well as shwoing them off on thier porfolio as well. True?

UV mapping isn't hard, and thanks to the billion at then programs out there it's not even time consuming anymore.

I hate this lazy do everything for me attitude. Someone was nice enough to give you a model for free and they used their talents to help a complete stranger out. Then you say "its too much work to UV map".

Mind you most of these comments come from kids who really want to be a video game maker guy who haven't ever invested more than $40 on a 3D book they gave up on.

3D takes hard work and a lot of time. There is no shortcut.

Not everyone wants to be a 3D artist, hence the reason for this thread. Level designers shouldn't have to learn how to create 3D models and UV wrap because in the industry all they will really be creating in 3D is simple primitives for setting the initial structure of a level.

I think they should know how to model.

There is soo much knowledge to be gained and applied to mapping if you know how to model.
