Would any of you butt-pirates like a free game? It’s a memory game I wrote back in ’93 for a semester project for one of my programming classes. The only problem with it was the buttons didn’t randomize, so after you played it a few times, you knew where everything was.
But since I now have the knowhow to randomize the buttons, I fixed the game the other day and now it seems fine.
You just need Microsoft .NET frameworks (FREE) to run the program. I have frameworks 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0, so I’m not sure, but the game will probably run as long as you have any version of frameworks installed. My mom downloaded version 2.0 and the game ran fine.
If you google .NET frameworks you’ll probably see options to download different versions. Frameworks, in case you don’t know, is like a basic foundation to run .net programs (and maybe others) so you don’t have to buy visual studio, etc.
You can just put the game icon on your desktop, if you wish, and click it to start the game. I can zip up the game; it’s only about 1.45 meg unzipped (about the size of a floppy). It’s an exe that you run so you don’t have to install anything, other than frameworks.
The first thing that comes up is the main menu where you pick the difficulty level. After picking a level and clicking Play Game, another part launches with the Playing Field. The Play-by-Play helps guide you. You’ll see where it wants you to pick a second button in the pair. When playing the Easy level, you see the color name for both buttons; no match and minus one point. Your next click resets the buttons and you see in the last pic where I made a match after 2 attempts and received 5 points plus minus 1 point for a total of 4 points.
Proceeds go to Children with Goiters, but since the game is free, there are no proceeds and those kids will just have to walk around with goiters until someone else comes up with a solution.
