First a little about the mod:
Fragment (previously known as Old Skool FPS) is a single player mod for UT2004. It will be bring back the feeling of classic FPS games such as Doom, Duke Nukem 3D and many others, while also expanding and updating many of their features. You can find more info on our site at http://drunkendev.tiaghosting.com

Who we are looking for
Right now we are looking for modellers/animators, 2D artists and level designers. At the moment we are fine in the coding department but that may change if the workload becomes too great.

What is required of artists
Experience is not a huge issue. There will be plenty of work to do for people of all levels of experience and you can learn as you go along.

What is required of level designers
As this is a single player mod, level design is one of the most important and demanding things. You must be prepared to carefully plan and storyboard each level together with the rest of the team before making it. Knowledge of UnrealEd will be needed especially of the scripting and trigger systems. However things can be learnt so don't be put off if you haven't used them much before.

What is required of all members
Communication and dedication are far more important than ability and experience. You must be able to communicate well with the rest of the team and use the forums regularly. It's also important that you are dedicated and you don't lost interest half way through development. Obviously everyone has a life so it's not expected that you work on the mod all the time but you will have to find some time to do it. And finally, your ideas are important. We have a lot of the details worked out now but there are still holes to fill and plenty of room for more ideas so your input is wanted.

Please email me if you are interested.

Seems no one has been interested so far so I'll post a bit more info.

One of the fundamental principles of the gameplay is that there won't be anyone telling you what to do. I've noticed in a lot of games recently, you've had someone giving you orders over the radio or something like that. You won't get that in this mod. You have to figure out your next "objective" by yourself. Obviously they won't be too hard to figure out since this is an FPS not a puzzle game. The plan is to have clues built into the level itself eg. warning signs, etc.

We have an impressive array of enemies planned, all with concept art so modellers know what they are aiming for. We have ideas for several weapons however they aren't set in stone so team member's input is very useful there.

And finally to show this mod is already underway, here's some screenshots of what has already been done:

Our first level is now underway so we're looking for someone to make and skin static meshes for it. We'd like to avoid using UT meshes because we don't want it to look like UT at all.

We're also in need of a few more advanced modellers that can animate so they can do enemies and weapons.

I'll keep you in mind but really we need people who have a fair amount of time to work on this. A few of our current members don't have much free time with school and jobs, etc. I'm actually working on another project myself so I know what it's like to be juggling several things at once.

Just another little update. The team is now communicating via a mailing list which makes it a bit easier for everyone because they don't have to check a forum everday. I think this will get things going so we can make a lot more progress.
