FMI, A question/request

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. What is the possibility of making available to the faithful supporters and new recruits a new patch with the fixes that are listed in the Beta 2a change log?

Personally, I think keeping patches rolling out, even small ones, keeps the interest alive for the game mod. It keeps the community excited. And, it gives excuse for game websites to mention the mod again and again, which generates interest from potential new players.

You guys implimented a nice update system within the game with Beta 2. Let's use it! :)

All of the fixes and changes that you have listed would be key to improving game play dramatically, and addressing some of the nagging issues that us regulars contend with all of the time while playing.

I think they are not releasing a new patch because the "Different teams in a vehicle" and "Fieldgens don't use energy" bugs are actually kind of cool. I love building a fort around the node with field gens now :p, and different teams in the same vehicle brings new meaning to "carjacked" :)

Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending on how you look at it), almost all of the FMI team have gotten new jobs that require more time and that means less time for modding. We haven't stopped working; new maps are still being worked on (check the media section), coding is still being done. Everything is just moving at a much slower rate right now until we get settled.

Jaspeer, first, thanks for replying to my question.

Please know that I did not start this thread to create some kind of "complaint bucket," like so many of these threads seem to degenerate into. I remembered indy telling us about new jobs and such a little while ago. I am happy for you guys in that regard.

This is one of the reasons why I was asking about the possibility of releasing a "little patch" via the new update system built into the game. I was hoping that would be easier for you guys, rather than holding out for another massive update. And, it would definitely be nice for us too, to be able to get the fix on the things you have already done as indicated in the current changelog.

BTW: I took a look at the screen shots for the new map you have been working on, XMP-Miasma. It looks nice. Let me at that thing! Me wants to play it. ;) :lol:

Well, for now, Faust has managed to whip up a mutator (which is prob the easiest way to fix 'little' things) to fix the weapons, so that's a start. Thankfully it does not affect the mixed-team vehicles or low-energy-drain field gens.

better for it to come late and good than keep releasing half finished versions...as long as it doesn't take long enough to lose xmp's allready small playerbase:rolleyes:

Is fortunately the right answer..?.. That is, if their new jobs are at Epic/Midway working on a UE3-engine game like U3XMP.

Great to see you update again! :D But I don't quite understand what you mean with this. Will it be possible to switch weapons during reload or not?

The weapon will switch either before the reload starts, or if you try to change while it's reloading, it will happen immediately afterwords -- basically a fix for the bug where you have to fire first before it switches.
