I saw a disturbing news item yesterday about the Flu epidemic ravaging Britain's Health Care System. We had/have it over here as well, but not on that scale! My guy had it in November and it kept him bed-ridden for over a week.
It might not be the same strain, but my condolences to anyone out there presently suffering, and hope that recovery is just around the corner.

Sounds like CNN haven't been doing their research again. In order for influenza to become an epidemic it would have to have infected 4 times as many people as it actually did....according to the BBC news that is.
Nowhere near epidemic levels thankfully.

Nah the flu thing wasn't (isn't) an epidemic. The real problem was all these people going to their local hospital saying they've got the flu and asking for a bed, when all they had to do was go to their local chemist and ask for some Lemsip Extra Strength.

Some people (like the elderly) obviously needed extra help, but with others it was like calling 999 for a finger cut.

I guess I misinterpreted the news item. It wasn't from CNN, but from my local channel 4 (news tele-type). It said that the British Health Care System was bankrupt from the deluge of sick citizens. And they did use the word "epidemic" to describe it.

Anyway, I'm glad I was wrong, and things aren't as desparate as it was made to appear.
