i really dont care if you think the CS nades are omfgoverpowered. i vote for making 99.999% (thats FIVE nines;)) accurately re-created INFflashbangs and then, if necessary, use this to test the viability of the unlimited INF-budget.

do crazy-rich combatants make for crazy-nuts combat? we shall see.
for all we know it will work out fine. (and it probably will*)

you might stand for balancing things before they get off the ground, but i for one would like to see us stick to realism first, and then count how many eyes we poke out along the way.

(*i say it will work out fine, mostly because i see it it this way:
some guy has 99 flashbangs.
he lowers, switches weapons, nades, switches, and walks into the next area.
YOU have 0 flashbangs.
you charge around the map with an absurd amount of violence-of-action, cheekwield 100% of the time, and snap shots into the gut of every sucker you catch in the act of fumbling around with their gear.

Do me a favor, scan this thread for a single post that could give anyone an accurate representation of exactly how effective of an effect is 'realistic'. See any? No? Now doesn't that comfort you? It sure as hell doesn't make me too excited about the concept.

I keep that balance thing in my sig because the majority of infers really are counterstrike players in denial. The very act of plugging those numbers into a flashbang is, guess what, a balance act.

If we stuck to realism, the highly-trained well-equipped good guys would beat the less-well-equipped-and-trained bad guys most of the time. But that wouldn't make a very good multiplayer game now would it? In Inf's context, since it's player vs player, things have to be balanced.

yurch: I've never denied that I play CS now and again. I've just never confirmed it ;).

EDIT: :con: when did I reach 2,000? That milestone flew right by me...

If you want total, no-limit realism, there isn't a big chance you're going to be playing multiplayer. Unbalanced realism is, IMO, best suited for story-based single-player games.

Now tell me, in a game where both teams are trying to kill one another...

...why would you want a weapon that doesnt kill the enemy?

A flashbang can be overcome by simply looking away. An M67 can only be overcome by getting the **** away from it.

Er that happens now with the M4 reflex sited players vs the rest ( - the uber players who can slay with other things).

yea but if your gonna turn around to avoid a flash, you lose track of your enemy and are gonna have trouble figuring out where he is without your hearing.for instance, you wont hear that person pop another nade or hear knife swipes

Since INF have special forces equipment, I think INF:Source should split between regular army thing and small special forces thing.

Armies have platoons and heavy armory (nade launchers, rocket launchers, mines).
SF have light armory but tactical stuffas flash bangs and small explosive charges.

What I also would dream of, for a huge player count, a mission, where they are regular soldiers fighting the enemy and at the same time a small special forces unit of 4 men with a exact task to get into a special building and steal, or destroy things, while the platoons fight and kick ass.

Such a mission would kick ass.
